Scarface Coppell is punishing Lita (again) for breaching club discipline

Sorry but HOW do you actually know this to be a 100% factually correct statement?

I'm here to be shot down so please prove this is the case.

I think the fact that he wasn't involved in the squad for the Wigan game at the time his indiscretion became public but has since returned might suggest that he was being punished originally.

The official line was that Coppell only wanted one forward on the bench and that he see's Long as the better sub than Lita. Now that Lita is back on the bench and Long is out of the squad I think some doubt exists over the total truth of that reason.

It doesn't mean its a fact but there is some 'evidence' to support the theory.

Didn't Lita ask not to play in that game?

More chance of a girl saying yes to Spacey on a Saturday night at the After Dark club than Lita playing for England.

Lita may have England potential. Personally, I think he does.

But I suspect he may need to show he deserves a place in the Reading team before he makes the England squad.

I haven't heard that one before, but maybe.

Coppell said on the radio that he dropped him from the squad for tactical reasons, in other words he prefered Long on the bench.

Lita could potentially play for England. Steve McClaren will have taken note of what happened in the Under-21 Championships over the summer. He has more of a chance of playing for England than Kitson does. His problem at the moment though is actually getting into the starting line up at Reading at the moment. I have a feeling that if he doesn't buck his ideas up, then he might be on his way at the end of the season and I'm sure Premiership clubs will be interested, although I hope this doesn't happen, because I think he can be a terrific player for us. His record speaks for itself, he if can get a run in the side then he will score goals, but first he has to get in our side before anyone can speak of him playing for England.

That Nugent got into the Englnd side on the back of an average season in the Championship should give heart to any English striker in the Premier league but Lita is nowhere near international class at the moment. He was maybe in the mix around February or March.

I still think Lita is our best striker and the only true natural goalscorer we have. However, he would be 10xs the player if he had Kits or Doylers attitude. Both of them are less instinctive strikers, but use their brains on and off the pitch alot more. This is why at the moment they both deserve to be in the team. Lita is like Andy Cole was at Man U, if he has to think about it, its going wide.

The other and more general point made by the original poster was about U21s stepping up to the full England squad.
Rosenior,Sidwell,Milner,Reo-Coker are just a few names that spring to mind as players that have had a lot of games at U21 level but so far seem some way off full England selection.
The likes of Owen and Rooney were already good enough at U21 to play for the full English side as is Micah Richards.

I don't see many of last year's semi-successful U21 squad pushing for Full England selection yet apart from Carson and possibly Walcott and in the case of Leroy I would hope that there are potentially better English strikers amongst the youngsters otherwise England will remain a long way off threatening to win one of the major International competitions.

I didn't include Bentley because he decided not to take part in the finals but I do feel that he is one with every chance.
Ashley Young-agreed.
I liked the player the first time we saw him come on as sub for Watford.
Lita's arrogance is totally unfounded. He needs to take a reality check, turning down a new contract when he's not even our second choice striker when everyones fit.
That could well be why.

Royal Rother Although arrogance is almost a pre-requisite of top sportsmen these days there are measures that are acceptable and that is usually in direct relationship to the measure of talent.

At present Lita has got the balance of Arrogance to Talent completely fcuked up and certainly won't get a look in for the full squad until that is sorted.

Ok, we all know your opinions on Lita and you're free to them, fair enough. But can you point to a player that has missed out on an England place because of their arrogance? If you're good enough, you're in. Do you actually think McClaren has enough breathing room to pick his team based on which he'd like to share a pint with?

Chris Sutton for one - "I'm too good to play for the B team"

Agree with what you say - and that's why SC picks Doyle and Kitson rather than Kitson and Lita because the previous two completely embody his work ethic and attitude; it's about playing for the team and giving your all, whereas Lita is an arrogant young cock. If he can turn that attitude into goals, it would be much harder for SC to leave him out ...
