Ian Royal He's shown on several occasions he can't. I think much like Lita, Long's days at the club are numbered. He has potential, but needs to play consistently at a lower level to have a hope of realising it.
He's a useful bench player in the meantime though.

Agreed, though I can't see him going out on loan so long as he is our first back up striker. He is very, very young and his best years are clearly still to come.

In the short term, we need to pick up another forward in the Jan window.

He really isn't very young anymore. He's about 22 - 24.

I reckon he's off at the end of the season, maybe January if we're looking at strikers then or Mooney turns out to be further ahead than he appears right now.

Coppell seems to have faith in Long.

He brings him on near enough every game, thought he did alright today, but doesnt make up for his lack of impact this year.

He is very young for a player with his first team experience.

I'd disagree with that I'm afraid. His young days are behind him IMO.

Amusing to see Derby fans putting our success down to keeping the same side. Hahnemann, Inigimarsson, Harper, SHunt and Doyle makes five players who have been regulars for more than a year. Rosenior and Bikey were part-timers last year, Cisse and Kebe played very little and NHunt and Armstrong are new. Also something telling about fans of a team who have bought literally dozens of players over the last three years recognizing the merits of keeping consistency on the team.

Amazing how we can all see that a gradual blend of experience and young / new players seems to work. We all discussed this very issue for our own club.

Attitude? Remind me, which of the two has put on the most public display of petulance?

I do believe that shirt had 'Long' on the back of it!

But then, of course, Coppell and those amongst the squad who have praised Lita's great attitude in training etc. aren't telling the truth!

S Long - passion not petulance. Long apologised for this. There is a fine line between throwing your shirt on the ground after scoring and throwing your shirt on the ground after being substitiuted. S Longs general makeup suggests a rather calm character, unlike his more arrogant cohort.

S Long 1 goal.
L Lita - feck all

Oh and Lta only went to Norwich because his Hummer couldnt fit through the Hogwood gates.

I could have sworn Lita had scored 5 this season.

Indeed he has, yesterday's header was his fifth in five.

I'd love to have that Lita back at Reading and happy to come off the bench, fighting for his place. Unfortuantely, I get the feeling that he has had it with the club and needs a move. It's a shame, but if we were able to get some cash for him in January, I think it would be time to let him go.

Yep, I maintain, best for all concerned if Lita parts company with RFC, he'll be happier and have a better chance of furthering his career. We'll have gotten rid of a troublesome* player who just isn't working at the club.

In this instance I mainly mean one that should be very good but has failed to perform for us for close to 18 months. Despite being given plenty of opportunity.

Agreed. And what with the way we have replaced Kitson and Shorey this year I have faith we will find an appropriate replacement for Leroy.

I am not a Leroy hater. I just think it's time for him to move on.

I feel Noel is a short term Kitson replacement and a long term Lita replacement, if that makes sense. We'll need a different striker with some real aerial ability- not taking away Hunt and Doyle's capabilities in the air, but the inches could make a huge difference in the top flight. It's a Kitson replacement we need, though Noel is "filling in" very well.

I mean, if Chelsea sold Drogba in January and signed Eto'o, they still wouldn't really have replaced Drogba, would they?
