No it's not, but in reality it's a pretty fine line between mid-table safety and the relative success of a play-off position which, if he is building a team around our largely home-grown youngsters, will be considered a fine achievement for the coming season by most supporters. His world-class approach to management and the thoroughness he seems to be bringing to preparation in all areas might just be the difference between those outcomes.

Auto-promo would be beyond most of our wildest expectations at this stage. (The level of spending may alter that of course, but if they are all Watford cast-offs we might be struggling...)

He feels that he's coming home to the club he owes everything to. He joined us at age 16, and he was with us from then until he was 32. Additionally, he's lived in Reading for 20 out of his 36 years - longer than he lived in N Ireland, for instance. He feels this is where he belongs.
