readingbedding "But if I can be a coach that takes it into European football then that will be a wonderful achievement."

Yes it certainly would Mr Rodgers, I bet his big bumper book of super soccer tactics has a bit blank at the end for European opponents.

I've come to the conclusion I hope you catch Swine Flu and lose the ability to post for ever more.

Why the abuse, Ian? I never said anything xenophobic, you tart. I simply meant that I'd prefer to finish 1st rather than 6th.

Jesus, some people.

Take your own advice and you wouldn't be upset.

Maybe it's all an act so he can have a large transfer budget?*

Or maybe he's mad.

*With SJM in control, unlikely...

Leave Spacey alone, there's nothing wrong with him.

And Rodgers is of course both. All the best leaders are. Whether he will be a great manager is anyone's guess though...

I can't go with the 1st part but after a few years I'm still waiting for his first post that doesn't shout "I'm a bit of a twat" loud and clear.

Fair enough he's got to have ambition but getting you guys out of the league isn't going to be easy...

No it's not, but in reality it's a pretty fine line between mid-table safety and the relative success of a play-off position which, if he is building a team around our largely home-grown youngsters, will be considered a fine achievement for the coming season by most supporters. His world-class approach to management and the thoroughness he seems to be bringing to preparation in all areas might just be the difference between those outcomes.

Auto-promo would be beyond most of our wildest expectations at this stage. (The level of spending may alter that of course, but if they are all Watford cast-offs we might be struggling...)

readingbedding Regular European football?
Easier said than done.

Unless we spawn it in the FA Cup, surely he's not talking about finishing in the top 6 of the Premiership???

You really are a tard, Coppell could seemingly do no wrong in your eyes and now this drivel. Are you Coppell's son?

Back to the subject, what a breath of fresh air Brendan Rodgers is - finally someone in charge talking up the club and breeding positivity which was sadly lacking previously.

No it won't.

This is another quote that I like as well, this is when he was making an excuse for leaving you guys after a few months.

“I am a loyal person and people who know me will know that but Reading was an incredible opportunity for me and one that may not come again.”

Now I don't know about you, but I'm sure if he progressed and got Watford promoted, Europe, etc, etc, he would have been Reading manager one day, if he wanted to.

I'm gonna have to keep an eye on BR.
In fact, I might have to start a BR quote thread, he's gonna say loads more exciting stuff than the last misery guts.

Completely opposite to Coppells "take each game as it comes" attitude.

He feels that he's coming home to the club he owes everything to. He joined us at age 16, and he was with us from then until he was 32. Additionally, he's lived in Reading for 20 out of his 36 years - longer than he lived in N Ireland, for instance. He feels this is where he belongs.

It's all too much this world-class optimism, this world-class confidence, this world-class preparation.

I feel giddy.
