URZZZZ Was OK with Obita as backup LB for next season but Bowen seems fixated on the idea he’s a LM. If that’s where Bowen sees his position, shouldn’t be renewing his contract, been a passenger there both today and against Stoke

Other option was Boye and he's not match fit.

Olise? Masika? Baldock?

Neither Baldock or Olise are naturally suited to that position.

Masika nothing to suggest he'll be around next season.

Typical Reading supporters obession with the past. We need to look forward, not backwards. He had his time here, we don't need him.

I would. His career highlight to date is a handful of good appearances pre-injury almost 5 years ago. He royally screwed his career by pushing for the move to Villa when he wasn't ready and hasn't done enough since leaving to earn another shot at this club. Let his story be a warning to all academy products breaking through (though it seems nobody told Danny Loader)

Don't think he's really what we're after right now. He's basically an older Rino with a slightly better scoring record and massive injury and performance question marks. Iirc.

Shame it didn't work out for him, but he made his choice.

We need to look for cheaper, more robust midfielders to replace Pele. This is a player with good strength and presence on the pitch. Its not just because he used to play for us although i certainly take your point.

didn't know about the injury problems!

I read somewhere the club told him they needed to sell him rather than, what we all thought, he wanted out.

There was an interview with him not long back where he says he was pushed out of the club rather than wanted to leave. Something about they told him they needed to sell him and wouldn't give him a new contract.

Wouldn't say Tshibola is robust, injury prone and a bit fragile in fact. He has never settled anywhere after leaving us either, indicates there may be other underlying issues with him.

He seemed settled for a time up there, very comfortable league though let's be honest. Could he hack it in the Championship playing really competitive games Saturday then again Tuesday? Have my doubts.

Seeing as 2 people mentioned his injury record i will have to reconsider! I hope he lands on his feet all the same.

Yeah, he definitely feels he was pushed out. But I think he is rewriting history to suit himself to be honest.
He got a new contract in September 2015. He played 7 or 8 games after that, but was somehow upset that he wasn't given a new contract? Really?
I can see he might have felt he was unfairly overlooked under McDermott, but wasn't he injured? And Stam seemed keen.

Does seem to me that he was being fed ideas that he was worth more love and attention than he was getting from Reading. However, given his extremely patchy record since then, seems to me the club made the right call in deciding it was too early to be giving him a lucrative contract, he said himself they were concerned about his injuries.

The sounds at the time were that we wanted him to stay but wouldnt stand in his way iirc

I don’t think this would be a positive move, we need to find another player

Yeah - we want you to stay, but don't think you're worth a brand new contract 10 months in is not "pushing him out" - it's just not "begging him to stay" either.

Seems Charlie Adam is in discussions with Reading over a new deal for next season. Whether it actually turns up anything mutually agreeable remains to be seen of course. Personally wouldn’t be adverse to him staying in a player/coach role as does provide good experience and cover for what may well turn out to be a fairly youthful and inexperienced midfield next season.
