winchester_royal The best thing about this piece of news is that, given the level of scrutiny which the PL placed before ratifying the deal, we know that TSI are genuinely have the money to take us forward.

We don't know that tbf. We know that they have the money to buy a 51 per cent stake in the club.

That's not strictly true.

It's certainly truer than your summations since I suspect the PL did not look into the whether the deal would take RFC forward.

GO JOHNNY GO!!!!!!!!

Russian take-over of Reading FC finally confirmed

May 29, 2012

Reading Football Club have announced that the 51 per cent sale to Thames Sports Investment, owned by Anton Zingarevich has now been completed, complying with all Premier League and Football League requirements.

Four additional directors, Anton Zingarevich, Christopher Samuelson, Andrew Obolensky and chief executive Nigel Howe have been added to the board chaired by Sir John Madejski. Ian Wood-Smith remains a director.

Speaking in January when the deal was first announced, Sir John said that he couldn’t be happier.

“This fit is so good it is not funny,” he said. “Not only does Anton come from a very wealthy family, but he was also educated in the area.

“He has a great love for the club and football and it’s a match made in heaven. I couldn’t think of a better partner to have than TSI."

The deal was originally due to be completed by March 31.

The FAPP makes sure that the new owners have the capital to cover any liabilities that the club may incur. In other words, they have money to support an active transfer strategy.

That, together with what we've been told by Madejski and Zingarevich themselves, suggests that the deal will take the club forward in terms of ambition.

What's more, if the checks were only to make sure they could afford the 12.5m needed for 51% it wouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes.

Tbh I was expecting more pages than we have got so far, when the deal was announced back in Jan it seemed there was about 10 pages in half an hour
