Royal Ginger Pog's had so few chances. When he has had sight of goal he's been awesome (except that time he tried to hit the moon in Newcastle). Feed him and he'll score. It's Pog for me.

Surely you can't be serious? He's scored 5 league goals this season. People go on about how great a finisher he is, but 5 goals with the amount of games he's played is not acceptable.

With our possession rate for the entire season so far at 44.5% of total play, no wonder he's only scored 5. With 8.66 shots at goalPER GAME, with 89 shots on target all season, isn't it a wonder why he hasn't scored more? Try giving him the service, the more he would probably score.

URZZZZ
AirRaidSiren "Some players just don't bounce around tigger style all game like Karacan, they have a more energy conserving or languid style. 9 times out of 10 if someone's criticising a player for looking disinterested, not only are they being clueless about football, but they don't understand English either."

"Pog only looks interested when the ball is a metre away from him."

Ian has a point, example:- Berbatov, lazy, doesn't look interested but what a player when given the ball.

You have still got to work for the ball. Berbatov is criticized a lot for giving away the ball

Pogs can't be criticised for giving the ball away in the same vain as Berbatov, cause he's not had much chance having the bloody ball in the first place! :D

Have to choose pog, although Alfie has scored more, in the championship the pog will hit 20 goals no doubt about it. Given the fact he should be gettin double ( if not more) the chances he has this season

I don't find Pog particularly mobile. He's got a turning circle like the QE2, though maybe this is less of an issue in the Championship.

Danny Welbeck has one league goal this season. In a team with far, far better service. A lack of goals does not make you a bad player - other examples this season are Rooney, Adebayor, Jelavic etc. Pog, like ALF, has taken his chances when they have been handed to him.

Personally I would go for ALF because I think in most ways he is more of a natural. But its impossible to really judge and compare them both after the season we have had, they have been feeding off scraps the entire season as we create so few chances for them. I think in a decent PL side they could score a lot more goals than they have this season as they would be getting far more chances. So therefore I think both could do very well in the championship with us next season, but I think we may have to say goodbye to at least one, if not both of them.

Except on Saturday when he missed at least three.

As you say, both are good finishers.

Pog: 23(3) - 5 goals, 0 assists, 30 shots (1 goal every 6), key passes 13.
http://www.whoscored.com/Players/7182
ALF: 11 (20) - 10 goals (4 from starting, which is actually very respectable), 1 assist, 52 shots (1 goal every 5 shots), key passes 9.
http://www.whoscored.com/Players/9776
So clearly not a lot of difference between them statistically.

As a comparison
Lambert: 32(3) - 14 goals, 5 assists, 85 shots (1 goal every 6), key passes 77 ( )

For me it's got to be Pog, he's a class above the majority of our players here and as someone said earlier the service he has received has been terrible.

I presume there is no chance we'll be holding onto him mind you?

Alf. Much as I think Pog is class, I don't think he would have as much desire next season going to places like Barnsley on a Tuesday night. Plus he is on big money!

Strikers love scoring goals - Pog would absolutely love the Champ. Why would he hate a cold night in Barnsley? He's Russian, not some alice-band wearing Portuguese ponce.

ALF will get more goals than Pog, is Pog not likely to have to take a wage cut?? Can't see him being motivated to play Barnsley over Arsenal!!

Decided to look up the minutes each had played (league only):

Pog: 1839
Alf: 1420

Have to question how Pog has played 400 minutes more and managed 30 shots, and Alfie has managed 52 shots, with this same 'poor service' they receive. And for Pog's great hold up play, the stats don't really suggest he's much of a creative outlet. Granted Alfie is playing against more tired defences, but for Alfie to have so many more shots with less minutes is telling, in my opinion.

Also, for people suggesting Pog will get a tonne of goals in the Championship, he's never really been much of a goalscorer, below are his league goals since 2007.

Games (Goals)
Zenit 2007 24 (11)
Zenit 2008 19 (6)
Zenit 2009 15 (5)
Stuggart 2009-2010 28 (6)
Stuggart 2010-2011 26 (8)
Stuggart 2011-2012 14 (1)
Fulham 2011-2012 12 (6)

Seems like Pog is living off his reputation gained from his purple patch at Fulham.

FWIW I'm not actually suggesting Alfie is the saviour to all our problems, I just think he's a better option than Pog. Some new strikers in the summer would be my top priority.

This must have been said - but surely the best option here, given their respective skills, is both of them, in a 442.

I love Pogrebnyak and feel sorry for him stuck in such a shitty team all season.
