winchester_royal Must admit that the team selection had me mildly seething before the game

How does mildly seething manifest itself? Does your mouth twitch at the corners? Shift around on your seat a little more than is usual?

IIRC it involved lots of muttering under the breath and a refusal to join in with the first "Nigel Adkins' barmy army" chant.

Great night out, Leeds weren't great at all for most of the game, beautiful free kick from Drenthe and we came out flying after half time, if Leeds hadn't come back into it it could easily have hit 7 or 8. What a horror show for our first goal from their defence though! Guthrie and Drenthe were the absolute stand outs for me.

Their two goals totally changed the game though, their fans were off their back and right behind them, they had all the momentum and we were rattled. Very much squeaky bum time after then. What a beauty of a goal their second was as well, McCarthy had no chance! Horrific their first though, our two defenders (can't remember which two!) or McCarthy really should've got something on it instead of having it fly past them.

Really Obita should have been covering as Smith was behind both CD's

I think a drop in intensity is understandable at 4-0 though. If it hadn't been for Austin's great strike out of nothing I think we would have maintained control. As it was, the fact that we gave them another 2 extremely presentable chances was a bit disappointing, but the vociferous response to the second goal clearly rocked us.

A few queries if someone in attendance would please indulge

What happened to McCleary to make him come off so early - hope he's OK for the weekend

How did we setup after Hector came on - was it a back 5 or 3-5-2

Even more confusing (for me anyway) what was the format after Cummings came on - from the players it looks like we were 6-3-1, or was it just a "eat up the clock" substitution

Went down with what looked like a hamstring injury, got back up, stayed on for a couple of minutes in which time he played a peach of a ball that Hal should have scored from, clearly not right so brought off just after that. Didn't look massively serious, but would be surprised if we saw him on Saturday.

It was tricky to figure out the exact formation as it was all hands on deck trying to cope with the long balls into Leeds' 8 strikers but think it was a 5-4-1.

Cummings played in front of Gunter as a 'winger'. Think it was mainly to eat up time, and offer fresh legs with which to keep the ball up field.

Not the first time he has played on the wing for us either.

Thanks WR - had to suffer the Sky Sports App "Live Commentary" from which it seems that in the last 15 minutes only Pearce and Gorkss were involved and then only because they "managed to make a clearance" with Obita giving away the odd foul here and there.

Great night. One of the best. Football is amazing - 4-0 up away from home and then we're hanging on for the last 25 minutes! Leeds went close 3 or 4 times; extremely close on 2 occasions. We definitely deserved the win, though; not so much for our second half performance, strangely enough, but for the first when we dominated and should have had a penalty.

Impossible to give MoM as the whole team played superbly. However, to pick out a few...Obama, McCleary, Gorkss, Guthrie. Drenthe was different class.

Didn't like the disrespectful Brian songs from a small minority. However, children will be children (I assume they were children by the squeaky high voices).

genome It's Wigan I'm worried about. I think we need to finish 4th or 5th as I think Wigan will sneak in there judging by how well they are playing.

They might be in for 3 trips to Wembley this season lol

4.

Weren't they in the Charity Shield?

'Greed. Embarrassing stuff from what was an otherwise relatively boisterous and supportive away following.

It upset me, Brian is a legend, far too much hating Leeds scum too, otherwise it was a damn decent support for us.

Yeah.

What did McDermott do to deserve having us gloat about his impending sacking? "We're gonna sack you again."

Behaviour utterly lacking in class towards one of the club's great servants.

Forgot to post after the game until now but better late than never.

I thought it was fairly even until we got a lucky break and the first goal. After that I thought we controlled most of the game, but there was a bit too much hoofball for my liking. Leeds were pretty poor and gave the ball away far too easily too many times (maybe the McD influence). Speaking of the man I thought some of the chants aimed at him were pretty harsh but to be fair I think it was meant as banter. Still, he must have been standing there listening to that thinking, "shit, football is cruel game". FickLOLe. Actually, he deserved it as he didnt even wave to us even though we asked twice  Adkins didn't disappoint though and even waits until there's a break in play before he waves back. Now there's a a guy who knows what he's doing

I actually missed Drenthe's goal (was far from the only one) but saw it on the screen in the concourse, what a strike! (heard the crowd cheer before the ball hit the net because of the delay though which was strange lol). Got back just in time to see Blackman's. My first instinct was he looked offside but fair play to him for reacting. HRK took his goal really well but both he and Blackman looked absolutely knackered towards the end. The two quick fire goals from them had us visibly worried and immediately we pretty much had 10 men behind the ball for the rest of the game. Kind of understandable but there were times when we needed to push out and we didn't.

As for the team I thought the defence looked pretty decent throughout the game, the midfield wasn't bad either, Guthrie and Drenthe played well. Thought HRK did ok but still not convinced about Blackman. Overall though we should have won by more. URZZZZZ come on lets have a play off spot

Singing that to McD after the guy spent over a decade at the club & got us a title is frankly disgusting. Unfortunately it's always a vocal minority that ruin it for everyone else.

He deserved better than that & I'm quite surprised we did that. Shows how thick fans are though when they also sing "Brian's too good for you". Eh?

Typical Reading fans though - far more concerned about chanting about fat away fans eating burgers & having a dig at others instead of backing their own team.

The likes of Gunter, Pearce, Blackman don't even get a song at home.
