Ola John has just come off the bench to make his debut for Wolves, about two days short of a month after he joined

50/50 tackle. Both players with legs outstretched. If Norwood won the ball instead of Blackett would he have been sent off? What about the challenge seconds before? "Premier League" ref apparently

Greatwesternline I thought the McCleary was harsh but don't think that one is harsh. Is trailing leg planted straight into the Brighton player studs first.

The other tackle from the Brighton player moments before was a yellow at most, Comes through from behind but mostly gets the ball with minimal clearing out of the player in any dangerous fashion.

He doesn't have to contact the player for it to be a red card offence. His challenge was completely uncontrolled and could have caused serious injury - there would have been no way of avoiding hitting a player.

Hang on, what? He doesn't have to contact the player, but there was no way of avoiding hitting the player? What!?

Read it properly 'a' not 'the' player.

He wasn't in control of his challenge, therefore in slightly different circumstances (e.g. just an inch further in towards Swift) he could not have pulled out had he realised he was about to hit the player. I believe that (control) is one of the things refs are meant to consider when determining the seriousness of an offence.

After the fury over the sending off perhaps I expected a softer tackle, but It looked pretty crappy to me. Blackett's is worse because the guy is already on the floor. There was no way the slide he sent in could avoid him or just clip him, he was always going to end up knee deep in him.

Borderline yellow/red for me. I can see why the ref has given it.

If Brighton can't score against that scratch backline then LOLz

Hope Moore isn't out for long, he's cracking.

Surely we must currently have the worst disciplinary record in the football league given the amount of bookings and red cards we've already accumulated this season. Anyone know??

If Moore is injured, Saturday's back line could be interesting.
