Seriously Doyle has been one of our best ever players who is currently going through a bad patch. Probably the worst thing we could do is to drop him. The two week break should do all our players good.

You are just as bad as Coppell, how long do you want to give him ? We'll be fcuking relegated soon. You can't look at the past seasons or repuatations, Doyle at the moment is not doing it, so he has to be dropped. It's this loyal attitude from Coppell that has partly been responsible for the current situation.

Who do you suggest replacing him with?

I'd give Lita a regular run out, I think he may have a point to prove to SC, but thats dependant on his week to week attitude in traing, and only SC can truly judge that, but a rest for Doyle, the chance (out of the spotlight) in the reserves might actually do the lad a favour. But unfortunately, the lack of true quality options is the problem, but i won't go there. :D

Let's get a perspective.

We've had some very hard games recently against teams in the top 6 and have not been disgraced.
Bolton was a blip.

Admittedly we have another 3 games against teams in the top 8 coming up, but after that it gets a little easier until we go to the Emirates.

Let's look forward to those games and see where we are after that.

I think we will be surprised.

Come on everyone, cheer up. At least we're not playing Scunthorpe or Colchester.

...........and we wont be playing them next year either.

1871royals He is one of my fav players but he has got to be dropped. IMO Leroy has played better then him in the last few weeks. Coppell has got to give Leroy and Kits a chance if it doesnt work bring Doyle off the bench. Doyle has played phenomenally well for us for the last 2 years, he may need a break physically and mentally.

Its pretty damning to whatever Leroy is doing in training that in spite of Doyle being rancid, both him and Long are ahead of him in Coppell's thinking.

I dont think Murts has been that bad. Sometimes IMO we underestiamte him. Pardew + Coppell both consistently picked him. Also think of the number of RB we have signed that at the time we thought would replace him:

Halls, Roseiner, Makin, DLC, Halford.
I know someone people will say noone on that list is a stand out brilliant rb. But 2 internationals, a club record signing
All of these Murts has managed to keep out of the team. He must be doing something right.

On Doyle he is one of my favs but his goal per game ratio this season is terrible. People will say he started a few games on the right wing but he has strarted loads up front. Dk has looked dangerous this season, KD has been poor. We need to give Leroy a chance he has only started a few games (and against stern opposition) and still looked more dangerous than Doyle. Many people were slating Leroy for not scoring but Doyle is even worse.

Not really. Leroy has ... no goals in the Premiership. Doyle has scored some (5?), although the last was a few months ago. But some is indeed still better than none.

Leroy, if he wants to feature, has to do something to get himself ahead of Doyle. As he hasn't featured while Doyle and Long are failing to apply a series of string instruments to a succession of cows arses, then what is he doing in training!?

People are suggesting Lita should come in for Doyle. I would suggest Long is now given a chance. I know he seems to be regarded as an off the bench impact player only but I thought he looked a real handful on Saturday. Lots of pace and really physical. He held off the Everton defenders really well and his positional sense seemed better.
Having said that I do feel Lita should be in the squad especially if we are searching for an equaliser. I would drop Oster from the squad, bring in Lita to the 16 and start Long ahead of a tired and short on confidence Doyle.

We can't possibly be as bad as we have shown in the last seven games. The entire team is short on confidence at the moment almost expecting something bad to happen. I would like to see our strikers rotated a bit more. It's desperation time, start mixing and matching the attacking pair until something clicks. Try Lita with Kitson, or Doyle and Long or Kitson and Long, and once we get a combo that works stick with that until it stops working. The lack of goals in this stretch has been the most disheartening element of the recent run. Reading FC not able to score? Who would have guessed?

+1, i was a fan of Cox (that doesn't read well!), definitely feel that the way things are going, he may have been able to add something to the team. Never mind though.
