If we play worse away from home, wouldn't it make more sense to keep the youngsters for Tuesday's game for the experience and go with the already experienced players for the away games?

Quite a few papers gave Harper the highest marks for any Reading player against Ipswich.

We can only afford one slow CB. Ingi is the past and Pearce is the future, that doesn´t mean that he is an automatic pick, but the plan should be to get him in as often as is safe.

Also BK for Harper, just to make a statement to Harps.

The Long question is a no-brainer, and I fully expect to see Lita back on the bench and Hunt up front.

Being saying it for months - if the team is going to progress , Harper needs to be out of it. He has no impact and it beggars belief that he was made captain - even Hahnemann does the pre-match huddle chat!

The guy looked good when Sidwell was next to him and now he's been exposed.

But as he is Coppells golden child there is not a hope in hell of him being left out!

Its easy to see why Boro and Bolton kept their cash in their pockets- they probably read the skewed newspaper reports thats showed Harper as MOM as well!

I demand Shane Long start tomorrow night. He should be the first name on the team sheet.

I am so glad I will be going to the game against Watford. I can see for myself how people are playing instead of reading the tripe on here...

even after saturday it wouldnt surprise me if coppell wanted to give him one more chance
which is starting to look indefensible, even for a RTGer like myself.

i would love the kid to score his own hattrick on tuesday and shut everyone up
but somethings wrong, his touch has gone completely, and that needs sorting, and i dont think it can be done just by playing him.
its good for long, but not for the team, and we need points at the mo, not a long spell of rubbish results in order to get long back on form.

I'm glad I'm not going.

Reading never do well against Watford.

Has he ever been on form?

To be fair to Shane Long he has been managed absolutely abysmally since he's been here.

It also makes the sale of Simon Cox even more ridiculous.

Shane Long has 3 goals at Championship level, all against Derby.

simon Cox is well on course to hit over 20 in League 1, and he is younger than Long. He was never given a chance here, had he been given Long's chances or Lita's for that matter, I personally believe Cox would outscore both of them, in particiular Long.

Young player like Long need to play, we are seeing the consequence of a player having literally 1 or 2 games to cement a place in the first team and if he doesn't he'll go back to 10minute cameos. He is 21 now? Been here for 3 years and probably has less than 15 full games under his belt, as soon as Reading were promoted Long should have been out on loan for a season to a CCC club so he could continue his development properly. HE wasn't even remotely proven at CCC level and then he was 4th choice in the PRem for 2 years. It's not helping anyone.

Now we have him 3 years older with little or no more experience than 3 years ago and still with no questions answered.

What do we know about Cox? That he can score for fun in League 1 in a pretty poor side, when Cox leaves Swindon it will be for a hell of a lot more than £200,000.

It was shocking management with regards to both of them.

i agree that cox was not givin the right opportunities at reading and that he has done the right thing by leaving
not sure that we can say whether he would out perform lita or long as we never really saw him enough
has proven himself at swindon but that is a completely different situation to him playing at reading

Henry's playing for the Ressies today, right? Does that mean Hunt, N sub tomorrow again (ie cover for striker and RM positions)? I guess Hunt, S is effectively cover, with Convey LM cover. Certainly looks like Long will be in the 16 anyway, what with Mooney still being brought up to speed and Lita remaining out in the cold. So where are those changes coming from? The team looks like being same again only with Hunt, N and Long swapping places.

perhaps coppell deems that us playing at home counts as a change
also playing against a different team is one

a change in coppells mind could be completely different to the way the fans have interpreted it
