Sorry for the double post, i was convinced i had seen him do well against Man U, and that i wasnt going mad, I trawled through the archive to find the match report when we lost 2 nil but Cisse was a positive from the game at CB against Tevez etc:

Cardiff also, last season after Bikey was sent off.

Much maligned versus Villa, but personally I thought he was no worse than anyone else on the pitch that day.

He's no worse at CB than Midfield.

If he was so good, why didn't he play there again? But it's not as if he is a first choice CB - which is my whole point to start with.

Kalifa is a 6'2" central midfielder who has also played in defence.

Showed he can play, too. A couple of times.

Because we had shit all in midfield and specialist defenders who are better than him.

We now have one fit, available specialist defender who is probably better than him. As fourth choice he is acceptable. The problem is that we have one crocked and another suspended, before the season even starts.

I feel bad for taking the thread off topic to push the merits of Cisse as a makeshift centre back. I think this will be the starting XI in the absence of Bikey and Ingimarsson. It's a bit powder puff but i dont see much bite coming from anywhere.

Spot on mate apart from I would play Tabb instead of Harper. But it does beg the question where was Matejovsky today? I presume he was injured. And Karacan not used?! Disappointed with that. It's clear Long is not up to it and N Hunt is far better. Still hoping we sign a striker though
