Avon Royal Anyone thinking about hurling abuse at Rodgers needs to take a long hard look at themselves.
It could be argued that both Pardew and Mcghee "did the dirty on us" and therefore merit some sort of abuse. Rodgers on the other hand really wanted the best for Reading FC, he was just unable to make it work at all. Good natured ribbing will be expected, but personal abuse? I don't think so.
This comparison of Rodgers with McGhee and Pardew is interesting. For me, both Pardew and McGhee were excellent managers who brought success to the club. I was upset when McGhee left but everyone knew that it was only a matter of time before he went on to bigger things. The mistake that he made was to criticise the club via the national media. That created a lot of animosity which has, sadly, not subsided. For me, he was one of the best that we have had and I will always be grateful for bringing a style of football hat I had not seen previously.
As for Pardew, what did he do wrong? I think he made a mistake in leaving us and I genuinely thought that we were realistic contenders for promotion. Has Pardew ever bad mouthed the club or supporters since? I don't think so.
Compare the records of these two managers with that of Rodgers. To mention BR in the same breath as McGhee and Pardew is just wrong. BR achieved nothing with us and we were not so far from relegation before the axe fell. Had we waited any longer then who knows where we wold have finished.
