howser In all this my thoughts go to McD, I doubt if a manager has ever taken over a side with such little ambition of the owner, he has no budget to bring in anyone new, although he would have been aware of that when he took over, and it will be a major surprise if anyone of any class will come in as the Sigs money should be wisely used to buy Madejski a new car. God forbid that McD gets pissed and leaves coz no one aint gonna want to come here under the present regime. There is a touch of the Simon Jorden of Palace here, laud all the hero worship and gain maximum personal publicity when you are doing well, then when the heat gets too much, make sure you are so far away from the media that you become a publicity recluse. So whats next ? as we are led to believe cant afford to compete at this level, continually £4M in debt, relegation, administration the mind boggles !

RoyalBluestrapReadingfanman I really think people need to stop quoting £6M. I really can't see how it will be £6M.
Chronic says £3M, Daily Mirror £4.25M, Sky £5M, so we are right to be sceptical. Odds on it being officially "undisclosed"?
I doubt anyone would give odds on that!
Another two fingers and dose of mushroom treatment for the supporters!
Odds on Madejski being prepared to take questions on the deal?
Far more likely that he will get one of his muppets to face the press. Maybe even add insult to injury by getting poor old McD to front it.

surely this is a football decision, taken by Bm and NH, based on what the team needs and what we can get. i doubt JM has owt to do with it, other than agreeing the budget at teh start of teh season

Richi RoyalSir Rodger Doyle Can someone tot up all of the transfer dealings since 2006/2007 including this one at say £4.25M?
From the last 3 seasons i.e. since relegation, from memory I make it around....
08/09
Out
Shorey – 3 Mill
Kitson – 5.5 Mill
Fae – 3Mill
Sonko – 2Mill
Convey – Free
Oster – Free
Little - Free
In
Armstrong – 500k
N Hunt -650k
Tabb – 300k
Mooney – 300k
08/09 net = + 11 million
09/10
Out
Murty - Free
USA - Free
Lita – Free
Duberry - Free
Doyle – 6.5 Mill
Bikey – 3 Mill
S Hunt – 3 Mill
Rosenior – 250 k
Harper – 300k
In
Mills – 2Mill
Rasiak – 450k
McAnuff – 500k
Howard – 500k
Cummings – 250 k
09/10 net = + 9 Million
10/11
Out
Rasiak - 0
Marek – 700k
Cisse – 500 k
Henry – 300k
Gylfi – 4.25 Mill
In
Griffin – 250k
Williams -0
Net total 10/11 = + 5.5. Million
Over 3 seasons Net = + 25 Million
These figures are all from memory.....also this does not take into account wages which would make massive indents for example last season Hunt and Doyle (20k each) Bikey, Murty, USA, Lita, Harper and Rosenior (say 10k each (guess)) = 100k per week = around 5 million saved from wage bill per year.
This year Rasiak, Cisse, Marek, Gylfi, (say 8 k each) and Henry (say 3 k) have saved already 35k per week or 1.8 million over the year!! (half the 4 million we need to save before transfer fees!!)

Agent BaltiTerminal Boardom That's all well and good but why offer a new contract in the first place? Didn't the current one have some time to run?
To put a 'release clause' in it, obviously. Kevin Doyle? Stephen Hunt? Remember? It's how we work.

We will never know as Chairman likes to keep things like transfer fees out of public domain for his own sniffy reasons! ...nothing like being open and honest about it these days ...it will appear on SSN as "fee undisclosed"...one of the few clubs who feel they have to adopt this secrecy

Royal Lady If we seriously wanted to hang on to Sigs and put the clause into a new contract to try and put other clubs off for a bit, why didn't we put a 6-8 million release clause in? The club KNEW someone would come in with a 3 million bid to trigger the release clause. Why then, unless there are 3 or 4 other clubs currently bidding, would Hoffenheim or whatever they're called bid upwards of 5 million? They can have him for 3 million (plus Gylfi's personal terms) - the club won't disclose the fee - it will be a shade over 3 million - if we'd waited til the summer, we'd have easily got double that. Great business sense. Not.
JM wanted to sell Gylfi - McD had no say in it.
It's a kick in the teeth for fans and remaining players alike imo.Did anyone else McD about selling players at the Star AGM does anyone know?

Barry the bird boggler But will The Sig move? He may decide his career is better served by staying in the Championship for another season than by having all the upheaval of a different country, differnt language, settling in etc. - any icelanders already on Hufflepuff's books?

nev monkeyIcelandicStokie From a solid source:
Last season Hoffenheim scouts were already monitoring Gylfi in several games.
Earlier this month their manager among others watch Gylfi tear the German u-21 side apart.
Few days later they contacted Reading who allowed Hoffenheim people to watch Gylfi train.
This weekend an offer was subjected and accepted by Reading.
Gylfi travelled to London last night and agreed terms with Hoffenheim at a hotel this morning.
He has now arrived in Germany and is undergoing a medical.
Hoffenheim are ready to build a side around Gylfi.
What happens next?
What happens next is Madcuntski pockets the money & we end up getting relegated because we can't score any goals.
