Cureton's Volley Sadly we are not in a position to improve on Nigel, but many of the candidates listed above would be more suited to making a fist of our current plight. It's a time to man the trenches, not play fancy Dan bullshit between the back 5.

So a quick fix and then the usual epic failure should we manage to snatch a place in the PL!

Haven't people still learned from our past two experiences in the top flight?! We are not at risk of relegation, nor will we be. Now is the right time to invest in (Madejski and Anton note) in some decent building materials and then build first class and long lasting foundations. No more building on the cheap only for the construction to get blown away the first time it is properly tested.

Not entirely sure the fault lies with our managers in the prem, so much as the short sighted board with their short arms and deep pockets?

Hence my Madejski and Anton note comment! Does Madejski still think we can single-handedly buck the economic model of English professional football?

Just looking at Saints' record in the PL this year under MoPo. They have 3 league wins in the last 12 games - against Fulham, Cardiff & Hull. Hardly setting the world alight are they?

They had 22 points under Adkins from 20 games when he got booted & sat in 15th. 1.1 ppg which is better than Cardiff.

MoPo's ppg is 1.42 at present but give it a few more games & he might well be exactly the same as Adkins.

If they lost the next six games in a row then 'MoPo's' ppg would be 1.08.
Is that likely to happen?

btw since coming in 'MoPo' has managed 38 games.
= 1 full season
13 wins, 13 draws, 12 losses.
= 52 points.

Would have got them 8th place last season.

Not bad is it?

sandman Dear me the Adkins brigade are rattLOLed tonight. For days you've been saying to people "name someone else who could come in" and when someone does you get upset.

Wouldn't mind Mackay personally, seems a nice bloke, doubt we'd be first on his radar.

I hope your parents did the right thing and bought you a rattle for Xmas you two year old mental aged spacker.

Big Ern
Royal Dee Phil Parkinson. He would bring some organisation and backbone in to this team.

Only a matter of time before someone brought up the Parky option.

Ok, please explain, what Parky has achieved in his management career, and then compare it to Adkins.

He's well proven at this level with his time at Hull...

Oh my God. Parky. Well that says it all. Big Welly and that will go down well if we ever get back to the Premier League. Stick with Adkins and Reading FC owners should support him with the substantial funds promised when he signed the contract. Factttttttttt

Adkins is not the "Reading" way

Whereas an overspending manager (cleverly hiding the add on costs like salaries) who leaks internal emails to his buddies is precisely the type of manager we need...

Just remember why Watford replaced him and where they were at the time.

Mark McGhee wasn't the 'Reading way' either, but still had us playing some of the most progressive football seen at Reading. The whole reason a lot of our youngsters are struggling under Nigel's style is because the 'Reading way' in ingrained into the club at every level. Even at youth games they're told to lump it out from the back under previous coaches. The manager and his staff need time to change the ethos of our playing style.

No it's not and no they aren't.

I've seen the youth teams several times and they are certainly not told to lump it and the evidence of Dolan's sole game in charge of the first team last season showed that is not his philosophy.

Style of play is not what is meant here is it?

It's the manner in which the club and staff behave

Public slanging matches instigated by the manager is not the Reading Way, ever

winchester_royal The guy that spent 8m quid on Andreas Cornelius? Nah y'a right.

As opposed to the guy who spent £12million on Gaston Ramirez?

Genuine col if you think Adkins had anything to do with that transfer.

I'm not saying Adkins is defo the right man, but if we were to replace him Mark Robins would be my choice, closely followed by Hoddle or Stevie Clarke. Dolan if all 3 told us to where to shove the job.

Think Adkins should be given a real chance to shake up the squad. He's seen all the limitations, one last chance to sort it out or I may even join your little crew.

Mark Robins. Urggghh. Journeyman, achieved nothing at this level.

Steve Clarke would be my choice.

Apart from set Rotherham onto their current upward path, perform miracles under very challenging conditions at Coventry, and turn HuddersfieId into a very effective Championship team. Top manager, and an excellent guy to boot.

No thanks. Vincent Tan got Cardiff promoted, not Malky Mackay.

I'd say salaries and other add on's would be down to the director of football or what is the point of him being there. I think a lot of the problem with Tan is that he didn't like Malky taking the credit.
