If I'm guessing, I think it may be some sort of weird 4-4-2

Lumley
Mbengue, Holmes, Sarr, Yiadom
Meite, Hendrick, Casadei, Fornah
Carroll, Joao

Which if it involves crossing might have potential, if there was anyone there who could cross. And Mbengue wasn't poor at full back.

Feels rather like a 'throw all the strikers at it and hope' desperation move.

Hound
Snowflake Royal Interesting line up from Ince.

3 CBs
1 FB
3CMs
3FWs

oxf*rd knows what the shape is supposed to be.

4-3-3 surely? Hendrick cm

Don't really see either Carroll or Joao playing wide left or right.

What would you do instead - other than NGW/Sarr?

I’d like Azeez in there but I’m not dropping Joao or Carroll. Meite is worth a shot RW at least to start

Not sure where Joao is exactly but I’m guessing it’ll be some sort of between LW and Playing off Carroll

Definitely play two fullbacks.

Most the players are right, but it doesn’t suggets to me there's a coherent plan.

I wouldn’t play Joao and Carroll together, chalk and cheese. I'd probably drop Carroll for Azeez to discourage long ball and have him as a late game throw of the dice to go more direct.

Or alternatively (same fullback deal) drop a midfielder or Meite and put Azeez in to go with two wingers instructed to cross to Joao and Carroll.

Could even go crazy and go:

Abrefa, Holmes, Mbengue, Yiadom
Azeez, Casadei, Hendrick, NGW
Joao, Carroll.

Who do we think is left back?

Why does Ince hate Guinness Walker - is it because he was a Bowen signing?

Which if your at home, and need a win, anyone can see is the obvious choice.....except Ince

Not sure that’s the obvious choice tbf. Would say the side he has out is the ‘obvious’ one, again maybe except NGW

It looks like a 4-3-3 to me.

Lumley
Yiadom Holmes Sarr Mbengue
Casadei Hendrick Fornah
Meite Carroll Joao

Seems like Joao will probably be a bit more narrow, possibly playing like a 10 whereas Meite will provide a bit more natural width and coming in off the right side. Mbengue's versatility coming into play as well there. It may even be Yiadom at LB and Mbengue at RB.

Not a bad side, some ball players in the middle with Casadei and Fornah along with Joao and Meite, I think it could work. Brum will be difficult to break down, so we do need players who can be comfortable with the ball and that suits Casadei, Fornah, Joao and Meite for sure.

Why a right-footer at left-back when we have a left-back available?
It seems daft to me but if we get a win then it will have been ok.

No, he just doesn’t seem to rate most players under about 23! I know you shouldn’t flood an XI with youngsters but all the same I think NGW, Abrefa and Azeez should have played a lot more than they have. Honestly think Reading would have more points than they have now if they had played!

 @ BBC website which has Reading down as 3-5-2 and Meite at left wing back, mind you Paul Ince is the manager…

He's obviously just not seen as that good by P.Ince which, to be fair he isn't.

Although he's better than anyone else Ince picks there.

Yep wouldn’t be surprised with thsi actually. Though Meite is poor on tbe left generally, NGW or Azeez would be better there
