This hero worship of a non-footballer is nauseating. OK, he runs fast. So bloody what? Running fast without the ball is a somewhat pointless in a game of football.

He only runs fast when he's running towards the opposition goal, he spends the rest of his time jogging around aimlessly. The Palace game was typical. No tracking backwards, no marking of Palace players when they were on the attack, no using his "lighting pace" off the ball into space creating passing opportunities for his team mates. His crossing is woeful, and apart from a couple of twinkle-toe movements with the ball (e.g. for his "goal"), there is scant skill on evidence to suggest he is any more a Premiership footballer than you or I !!!!!

I put it to you that there was a very good reason why he was on loan at a 2nd Divisions French club when we signed him - he's crap.

At age 24 he MIGHT have time to develop some rudimentary football skills to add to his "lightning pace", but given the "progress" Shane Long has made in 3 years under the tutelege of RFC I have grave doubts.

tracked back a fair few times, saw him in and around our penalty box alot, stole the ball a couple of times in that area to spark a break in the palace game alone

so either you didnt watch the game, or are deliberatly spouting nonsense

Dunno what you've been watching whilst at footy, but Kebe has taken ball past player(s) on many occasions using his (turn of) pace AND his ball control. Ok maybe he looks he hasn't got the greatest ball control, but whatever he's doing it's working. He reminds me of Little when I used to say "how did he just do that and get away from his man, without losing the ball???"

Errr, I think you'll find that he did. More than two occasions he slid in won the ball and run it back up the wing it came from. Tracking backwise - it looked to me that he was the one who was told to stay up field. After all Kebe was always on the halfwayline when they had a corner. And as for passing opportunities with his team mates WTF are going on about??? He spent s
pretty much the whole of the game interchanging with Rosenier.

Ok his crossing isn't great - but neither was Hunts a couple of seasons ago, but give him a chance and I think he will really shine.

Although we've seen him play against premiership teams, I agree he was poor then. But Kebe is more of a confident player now than he was last season. He is much better than the few games we saw of him last season (albeit against lower league teams) but he can only get even better.

I don't post too often these days, doesn't seem worth it, but...

I was so gutted when the White Pele left, I thought being delighted by the pace and trickery of a Reading player was a thing of the past. But Jimmy has been fantastic. As for tracking back and getting the tackles in, in the first half against Palace he was like a demented Kitson, all long legs flaying, yet surprisingly accurate and tenacious. That tailed off in the second half, but the guy was good value.

He alone is worth the price of admission. And don't get me started on Pearce, who could well be playing for one of the big four in a few seasons if he keeps on developing. Pure class.
