Barry the bird boggler
dean horrix legend
southstand67 I can't see who would want him. I like him I have to say, but his end of season performances weren't all that were they? Lets hope rodgers does a job on him and turns his attitude around eh?

From the Daily Star again,Birmingham are lining up a £4 million bid for Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is quoted on Sky's website today as saying he has no intention of tabling a bid for Hunty, least not yet anyway.

Pretty standard article TBH. Nowhere there does he actually say he isn't going to bid for Hunt, and the last sentence, 'Hunt is a good player' certainly hints at a bid in the near future.

This story is on the Sun website also. It says we are selling him as we need the money. Is that true? do we need the cash that badly or are we selling him as he isnt as good as he once seemed to be?

It makes good business sense to sell him.

He was free, he wants to go, he is no longer any good.

£3.5 Mill would be just perfick!

I hope we buy someone decent soon though. Even forest fans at work are confident of finishing above us this season

I think this has more to do with us wanting to get rid of his reported £30k a week wages.

Terminal Boardom I have voiced my opinion on our #10 more than enough. Is it just possble that should he go to Birmingham, that would be the green light for an improved bid for Tommy Smith? Like for like replacement positionally at least?

Like for like?

Hunt is a left midfielder.

Smith is a centre forward/right winger.

Not sure how like for like that really is...

No, some idiotic manager will take a gamble but not for 5 million.

Hunt looking like he is on his way at last. (Daily Mail )

Happy with £3.5m. Hopefully we can add to the squad once Hunt has gone.

Stephen Hunt is talking to Portsmouth over a £3.5m move after they agreed a one year deal with defender Steve Finnan.

Reading have dropped their asking price for Hunt as Paul Hart attempts to bolster his squad

I'm pretty sure he won't be playing.

- He doesn't fit into our pacey 4-4-3 formation - We will play two from Kebe, Robson-Kanu, Church and Long on the flanks aka Chelsea.

-Hes had not pre season so will not be match fit, Rodgers knows nothing about him having never seen him play so would hardly see him as our best option on the left.

They'll go down if he goes there. I generally think Pompey are in trouble this season

I dunno, if he's around there's a good chance. He's a decent scorer for a winger and has played upfront, so could easily be the wide left forward in an attacking 3.

I think 4-4-3 would give us a distinct advantage over most teams!!!

I also think anyone thinking 3.5mil will go in to Brendan's coffers is going to be disappointed (again).

Good luck to Hunty if this is true, I'm sure he will become a legend with the self styled "best fans in the Prem" in no time.

Hunt is going look a complete dick if no one comes in for him.

At the very least I'd expect an apology in public if he doesn't manage to escape from RFC but I doubt that will ever happen.

Although it would probably be better for all parties if Shunt left, part of me would love us receive no offers and him rot in the reserves for 6 months.

Do you reckon maybe, though, that it may be just a teeny bit better, if there are no offers, that he plays amazingly well like he's done at the beginning of the last couple of seasons and sets up loads of goals?????

As if to suggest that he doesn't look a complete dick already with the way he has conducted himself?

Possibly more the work of his agent - but he must feel pretty awkward/embarrased.

I'd be amazed if a Prem club would come in for him.

I don't recall seeing the PH's agent on the sofa of Goals on Sunday

No-one will buy him because he has been sussed as being quite shit really. His performances have not stood up well to scrutiny.

Answer this one:

If you were a supporter of a Premier League club, would you be excited if your club acquired shunt?
