strap Royals boss Brendan Rodgers is delighted to capture a player he has had on his radar for eight years.
He said: 'I'm delighted to bring in a player of his quality. I have known him since he was 14 and tracked his career since.'

Now that's a bit more like it BR. Of course, it could be argued that games against the likes of Cardiff, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Leicester and Newcastle (9th Jan - might be too late for him?), will be far more of a test for him than run abouts against SPL teams.

With Ingimarson still looking someway off full fitness, we still only have 2 specialist centre backs in Mills and Pearce. Seems like a good bit of business, and you never know, if he likes it down here he may decide he wants to stay.

A bit like Mathew Upson eh Strap

When Ivar is fit.

Or we get someone else in in January.

Don't get me wrong - I am not advising 3 at the back I am just wondering how we fit in:

i) our captain/vice captain,
ii) A player BR has said he did not pay £2m for to sit on the bench, and
iii) A player with Champions league experience who I doubt Celtic would let come here to sit on the bench,

whilst allowing our right back to leave :?

This is what I was thinking. It's nice to have competition for spots, but when there's a whole lot of quality, how are you going to choose your best pairing?

Ideal
leww_rfc
Ryn Maybe he'll play left back, with Bertrand playing left wing, seeing as we have no other left winger.

left wing? we just signed Jobi Mc'Anuff.. doesn't he play there?

I think he plays right wing.

Plays both wings

As much as I am happy to have DOD, after reading this below in the telegraph online it doesnt sound like he is 100% commited to the Reading revolution. Maybe I shouldnt be too surprised but for him we are just a means to an end - nice

Darren O'Dea has signed a new three-year deal with Celtic but has joined Reading on loan until January, the club announced today.

"It's obviously great to sign a new deal but it's more important that I get out now and play football," O'Dea said. "This is a massive chance for me to go and play for a good club like Reading and prove my worth and then come back here and obviously try and do the same here."

The Irish defender has already made 50 competitive appearances for the club since his debut against St Mirren in September 2006.

However, he believes the opportunity to play first team football will aid his career. "I feel this is the right thing for me to do now – to play first-team football – and when I come back I never want to hear the word 'experience' said to me again," O'Dea added. "If I'm good enough to play here – and I think I am – this is the club I want to play for."
