Brendan Rodgers "People ask me about my best team, and the best team is the winning team."

Thanks for that astonishing tactical insight, Brendan . All talk, no delivery as usual.

urzmikep Are you sure it's not another directive from above (Mr Mad) requesting that he has to save even more money by reducing the wage bill futher and loaning players out/getting rid of them??

I suspect not on this occasion (OMG what am I saying! ). What Rodgers is saying makes perfect sense. Let's just hope he makes the right choices! However, that having been said, I am sure JM will be happy as a pig in the proverbial at the prospect of yet still further savings.

Whether those savings are later made available to strengthen the squad or used to pay off further loans etc. remains to be seen.

I think he is trying to say he doesn't know what his best team is, however based on that comment surely it should be the team that played at Barnsley?

Traditionally, as per Strap's thread re: players utilised in a season against relegation elsewhere, it is evident that a smaller, tighter squad with more consistent use of a smaller base of players does do well. Or better, at least.

The less change, the more 'telepathic' a team can become as passing and position become almost 'second nature'. There's a lot of carping on here and sarcasm, and I'm sure some of it justified. Rodgers does not help his case with public utterance. But the oldest axiom and most appropriate in football and many other sports is 'let the talking be done on the pitch.' Old Fatso used to keep his gob shut most times and we had a team that could pass and beat most sides for a season or two and more back in the 'nineties.

If there is any advice to be given from the sidelines then maybe it could be at least constructive. That Mr. Rodgers lessen the need for soundbites (I am pretty sure somewhere the media and the club combine to squeeze some of that from him in the shape of the game as it is now) and 'be his own man' and just make sure the football and its results replaces the need for rhetoric and speech. The fact that he has 'identified' that he needs a smaller and more settled group of players is, at least, something of the 'encouraging'.

A silent manager whose players' boots and legs do the talking - then produces - is always going to equate to a happy bunch of supporters. People forget that football is quite simple and is not a science.

And yes, I think that possibly Brendan has fallen for the 'scientific' at times, given some of his statements. However - simple is often best. And silence is golden. Humility is a forgotten tool in life and sport. Liam Rosenior 'talked' a great game. Roy Keane 'gobs off' in a repetitive style. But it is always substance that delivers what history requires. Not hot air.

There is of course a shorter way of saying all of that. 'Shut the f*ck up and make the players do the talking with their feet.'

But I'm trying to be polite and measured.

Any savings are going to be negligible aren't they ?

No one would leave the payroll and chances are we'd still be paying most if not all of any wages.

I would loan out Mooney, KelLY, and leave it at that, Henry and Bignall already gone.

Jesus christ, this post is a complete and utter JOKE at RFC...

...let me tell you why...

...Thou Voice can read between the lines and indeed this is what is happening.

The fool of the manager seems to think that all these changes because he was trying to look at different people was to give other people a chance, all players a fair chance, and NOW he can make it work?

I say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

...he is on life number nine, this poor post at RFC is to claim the odd few back.

...he is lying, if he wanted to give other people a chance, let me remind you with have Liam and James on loan, more skill then some of these excues we currently have.

...no this is DEAD MAN'S WALKING BOOK OF EXTENDED EXCUSES coming out. He knows that when sacked, he will not be offered any half decent position ever again. He is a joke.

WE SHOULD give him back to Watford and demand our money back as he is a dudd.

Also, if he is trying to give others a chance, why put that fool Adam in goal time after time. He is good as keeps and arguably a worse goalkeeper otherwise then anyone else in the Championship.

The MANAGER MUST GO TODAY.

DO YOU SEE?

Coppell explains the squads small and likes a tight squad, rodgers comes in and claims its too big despite a mass exodus over the summer, lol. Ok brendan.

Having a bunch of youth players in reserve does not equal a good squad. Man united must be about 50 + then.

LOL the squads too big. Get this moron out now.

Not taking your meds again Thou Voice? This is arguably the first showing of BR's cojones - lets give him till Christmas before we judge him on 'at least' taking some action.

I'm pretty sure Coppell had complaints about the size of his squad last year.

Port Vale have had no enquries for their squad nor will RFC!!
