Who is your choice then, Flash? Your realistic choice. Absolutely zero chance of Curbishley wanting to come here, you deluded people; we've no money and are on the cusp of relegation.

I have plenty of love for Brian and, unlike his predecessor who professed his love for the club ad nauseum, McD has been readily involved in RFC's success in the last decade.

I'M BACKING BRIAN.

My realistic choice is Ferguson. He has had 2 successful promotions, on a very limited budget. Seems to be able to get the best out of players.
He left Peterborough after Chairman believed his head had been turned.

He is the standout realistic target.

McDermott is such a cheap option and so unproven. Would be an absolute farce to give it to him.

Tbh Pearcey, I think we're f*cked anyway. No money and probably the poorest set of forwards in the division. We're paying for 2 and a half years of bad decision making.

Go and compare Ferguson's budget to what his rivals had to spend during the same period at those levels. I like Ferguson, but McDermott is probably the best option given how far up his own ar$e and short-sighted our once magnificent chairman has become.

Would McDermott find it harder to get players on loan, being unproven as a manager, than Rodgers or anyone else off the list of possibles for the job? Do clubs look at the managers and think they'd rather not have their players under unknowns or do they look at the players already there or the club as a whole or something?

I agree that if McDermott is so credible a candidate then why did his name not surface when Coppell left?
But if our gradual upturn at ashton gate wins the chairman over, then why sack Rodgers given thats how we've been since qpr game.
It makes no sense to sack Rodgers two weeks before the transfer window when we're one striker short of being a decent side, without a replacement lined up, are we to play the Rodgers way, with his team until May, just without Rodgers and just hope Jobi doesn't notice he's gone?!

Unfortunately I conclude that BR asked for a striker and a defender for xmas, and a you've had 7 players and bought a 2m centre back, and then Rodgers said I can't do my job without a striker and went after an argument.
Hence McDermott.

BUT a dip in our upturn would have been expected
after booting Rodgers, yet BM kept it going and motivated our players.
Madejskis chipper as now he thinks it will at least not get worse. But BM comes across well and obviously has respect and of course a reserves premiership trophy. I'm delighted we have him there, but fearful our goal shy team will make it difficult for him...

What is this 'matey' crap Ian? Mourinho's the most 'matey' manager in football and he's one of the best managers. Are different managerial styles too difficult for you to grasp?

According to Downes, the original plan after Coppell left (lets face it, he was going whatever happened) was continuity. But that was abandoned after our dire last half of the season, and it was decided to move Downes and Dillon out. Conceivably, if they'd stayed, McDermott might have been in the frame for a promotion of some sort, but with them gone, he becomes first choice now we've gone back to in-house.
