Fun fact: Paul Ince is the only Reading manager or player, past or present, to be name checked in a song to reach number one in the UK chart.

Close! But the lyrics are actually

If you love somebody, set them free. Well, that's how it is for me

And not how it Ince for me as many people think.

The correct answer is Three Lions '98.

Ah I see, easy mistake to make. Feel like an idiot for singing it incorrectly all these years.

Of course !

Ince isn't the only Reading player to be name checked, Gunter is in the Manic's Wales 2016 Euro effort (any possibly HRK too).

Incidentally Leigertwood is name checked at the beginning of Calling Occupants by the Carpenters, that's the only non-football related song name checking a Reading player I can find.

Ince has got to number 1 twice actually.

Work it out.

Just realised he's actually been in two number one songs! Was also in United's 1994 FA Cup final song "Come on you reds". Which was an absolute banger btw.

Side note, it's a shame teams don't release FA Cup final songs anymore.

I know what will be under the lid, I know what you do and how you operate. I have a cat and a dog and will retaliate accordingly.
