Brogue Joao back thank god

Reckon he’s not actually fit enough to play, least that’s what PI will say after 90 minutes and no subs used.

great news to see Joao back, and in particular not just rushing him straight into the starting line up.

Not great to see us going with the same XI that failed miserably against Rotherham. If it's the same shape as well, that will be disappointing. I think fair enough to give Lumley another go, and i know it may seem harsh to drop anyone else but keep him in, but we just aren't set up right in my opinion.

So not so much sub's bench as sub's wheelchair then?

Brogue Right I thought the Sarr deal wasn’t over the line because of financial reasons. We needed Puscas wages off the books. No, Dellor just said it’s because of the squad size, we are only allowed 25. And we are at 25 already. So it’s very much much one in one out then. So not sure how this premier league left back we’ve been touted as being interested in works then.

Doesn't make sense. Does that include Moore? he's not even got a squad number

What criteria qualifies a player as being one of the 25, a lot of Reading’s youth have barely had any league game time.

Surely that can’t be right as Ince has talked about signing 3 or 4 more players. It would be worrying if we can only sign one more player (if Puscas leaves).

Actually it seems it’s 24 players. The efl website says

Under what circumstances can a Club operating under an Embargo sign players?

During a Transfer Window

Clubs can ‘staff up’, so they have 23 players of Professional Standing within their squad.’

‘Professional Standing = is any Player who has made one first team appearance (including as a sub) for any Club in any first team competition (EFL Trophy appearances do not count).’

‘Established Player (Championship Clubs) - A player aged 21 or over as at the 30 June immediately prior to the commencement of the season in which the Club is subject to the Embargo and who has been named in the starting XI on a total of at least five occasions*.

*in EFL League, EFL Cup, EFL Trophy, FA Cup or equivalent competitions for any Club in any equivalent League to the Championship or higher.

How is the number of players these Clubs can acquire managed?

If the Club has 24 or more Established Players they can only sign new players on a one in one out basis, though this will be dependent upon the circumstances of the individual Club and will be determined by the League.
Where a Club has less than 24 Established Players they can register players up to the 24 limit, though again this will be dependent upon the circumstances of the individual Club and will be determined by the League.’

So
1 Lumley
2 Bouzanis
3 Andresson
4 Yiadom
5 Abrefa
6 NGW
7 Holmes
8 McIntyre
9 Dann
10 Hutchinson
11 Fornah
12 Hendrick
13 Loum
14 Ince
15 Azeez
16 Hoilett
17 Ejaria
18 Long
19 Joao
20 Meite
21 Clarke
22 Moore
23 Puscas

So we're pretty close to 24, even before you factor in I've almost certainly forgotten someone.

Yeah ‘Mark’ just text in asking the question, he’s obviously been reading this thread. Hi Mark! And dellor has back tracked and said it’s not numbers it’s financial. :|

We look a bit lopsided. Ince seems to have a free role and not sure we have anyone actually playing wide left. Yiadom playing quite narrow a lot.
