Andre Bikey - what do you reckon?

I had my two year old son (who's just really starting to talk a lot) cheering for Bikey even before he scored his first goal yesterday. I'd only predicted he'd score one goal
Any defender who kicks Peter Crouch in the crotch and scores goals against Chelolsea is a hero in my book. With our confidence this high, I expect our tie against Arse to be an exciting one no matter the outcome. Our lads won't be under pressure to win this one; any result will be fine so long as we avoid taking any injuries or red cards.
I hope Bikey will stay in the hoops for many years to come.

I've always felt that this boy is a star in the making and I still think he may end up as a holding midfielder.

At his age he's some way from the finished article but he's been held up by Coppell's reluctance to break up an established backline that leaked goals in large numbers almost from the start of the season.

Bikey's man marking of Andy Johnson was the main event in our home win over Everton but Coppell then put him on the back burner and left him there even after the old guard let in 7 at Pompey

He's currently as vital at the back as Sonko once was and, if he stays there, it's a case of who his long term partner will be...................not Ivar IMHO.

Looks to be right,hopefully he can keep his temper in check as well ,no more attacking medics etc. With a new young goalkeeper, such as Carson or Foster, Shorey staying and Rosenior getting even better and Pearce fullfilling his potential we could have one of the youngest and best defences in the Premiership in a year or so. Midfield still needs to be sorted and the attack is ok, still not sure about Long but again he is young, still plenty of time to make it. If Doyle can find his shooting boots , next season, assuming we stay up this will be a lot brighter.
Kits is Kits , if he stays fit he will always score goals.

The teams coming up from the CCC look to be crap and should go straight down, will hardly reach 80 pts let alone 90.. With some fine tuning and luck we should have a team capable of a top 10 finish, 5-10 any way if not next season certainly the one after.

I have n´t been so confident about our future for a long time. Of course the big proviso is that we stay up this season, if we do go down 5-6 players will leave and we are in the doo doo again.

Bikey has all the qualities to become a top class center half

He is great in the air, has great pace and strength. Is a tough tackler when he needs to, there have been many occasions when an attacker has been running towards him, he has put out a leg got the ball, the attacker goes flying over him and the ball, and bikey strolls out of defence. He has composure on the ball, and positionally he is improving every game he plays.
He can play up against big target men, (had carew in his pocket last season) and small pacey men (as someone mentioned kept johnson quiet against everton)

The other graet thing about Bikey is his attitude, he seems to have a fantastic attitude, really caring what happens on the pitch, summed up in the sunderland game when he kicked a bottle in front of the west stand when we conceded a pen despite only been named a sub. Has never complained, has bided his time and now is reaping the rewards.

The thing he needs to work on, and it is often the line between a good defender and a top class defender, is his concentration. Improve this (which IMO again he is getting better every game) then, given his age for a CB, he will become a top defender. Also his temper, we dont need and incidences like the ACN but i havent seen or herd about anything like this at reading apart from the sweeden incident.

I still can't see how people reckon he's got pace, but in scoring his second goal yesterday he literally carried Jaidi for a good 5-7 yards on his back! Never mind pace, he's as strong as an ox, and frankly if he hadn't have scored, we should have been given a penalty for Jaidi's piggy back.

Agree with the defensive midfielder tag, as his concentration for central defence is, well, suspect at times shall we say? Prime example being the Birmingham equaliser. Still, MoTM for his 2 goals and shear brute strength!

I think he has the potential to be a great central defender. Sometimes he worries me, and I think he will make mistakes, similar to other African defenders that have played in the Premiership - always an element of doubt.

As far as this season is concerned, us turning things around has coincided with him and Ivar playing at the back, and with his goals as well he is doing a lot to keep us up on his own.

Bikey deserves too keep his place in defence, ahead of Sonko. His ability to cover at Centre Half gives SSC the possibility of shuffling the pack by bringing Sonko off the bench and pushing Bikey forward to boss the midfield, if that is what is needed.

The things that worry me about him are his over-reliance on the 75-yard cross-field "pass", his occasional lapse of concentration, and the fact that he can whip himself up into a red-mist rage in a couple of nano-seconds.

It is plain to see that he loves this club, and I hope he stays here for many years.

That is definitely how i see our future, next season i hope to see more of pearce in the team, slowly displacing Ivar who probably only has one more year of premiership football left in his body (assuming we stay up)

Pace isn't everything in the Premiership, someone like Sami Hyypia has been a top Premiership defender for years without having that natural pace so if Ivar was ever to be dropped, I don't think it would through that reason.

As for Bikey as holding midfielder, I can only remember his stint there against Blackburn earlier this season and he didn't fulfill me with confidence, I would certainly think someone like Cisse who's a specialised central midfielder would be better suited.

I agree completely. He was awful at Blackburn and looked completely lost. He's a centre back, keep him there. Cisse is going to be a good defensive midfielder mark my words. Lol at the 'Coppell makes bad signings brigade'

i honestly think that bikey could be one of the best defenders in the league at his peak, and if we could keep hold of him be our best defender ever for sure
and he's my effing hero
