Jeffers217

Jeffers217 Oh dear- mediocre season ahead if he's up top. Needs to be N Hunt alongside a new prolific striker

Rodgers has already acknowledged that we need a 15-20 goal man in the squad to replace Doyle, hence him being so keen on Tommy Smith. Trouble is, as the days progress it's looking more and more like smudger or bust. There must be alternatives out there somewhere?

Yer I agree with you but it does worry me when Shane Long is made number 9. We should have been the team to sign cox for £2 mill it was only a 3rd of Doyle's fee. And whilst Smith is a good player he's 29 and would be replaced if we went up. There just seems to be a lack of ambition here. However Rodgers talks good and i believe he will get the best out of the players so I could be proved wrong. But come on whilst others are signing players we promote " cant get the ball under control" Shane Long to the number 9 berth- its not exactly inspiring!

Cox would have been cheaper for us as we'd get a refund of the sell on fee if that's how it works

I hope he now goes on to show the fans of this club that he deserves #9 - don't take it if you're not good enough.
Interestingly, Church has taken the #18 - is he twice as good?

Well this thread is embarrassing and really does go to show how pathetic some people are, and truly sums up the mentality of some of our "fans".

Good luck to him, it'll be interesting to see how he does now we've got some proper coaches.

interesting to note that abdoulai baggie, jake taylor and oliver kelly haven't been assigned numbers. I've seen an article in the evening post where eamon dolan was talking those three up and was saying that they'll be part of the first team squad. Maybe the club are planning on loaning them out for the season.

Interesting to see no 5.

Oh and 24 is missing too. That probably doesn't tell us as much. High chance of 10 and 23 leaving too. Maybe we're waiting for SHunt to go before we bid high enough for Smith so he can have number 10.

would explain why Rodgers' won't stand in Hunt's way if/when he leaves.

maybe they've planned it all out, which is how Rodgers' knows Smiths future.

Exactly. Who knows when they'll leave? It's all part of the market, get players names, so when they leave you buy a new shirt.
Hence why when I buy my new kit, I'll have 91 (for my birth year) and my last name on the back.
That way, it will last forever.

If you're getting a player name. Make sure it's one you'll like no matter where he goes after us and who has made a real contribution to us.

Or choose someone who no longer plays for us already, but has legend status.

Personally I think getting your own name is the sad thing.
