Mr Controversial Wherever the money has gone, the club should come out and explain it to us as this issue is coming up time and time again.

Why should they? They don't want to tell the other clubs trying to sell us players (e.g. Watford) how much they have in the bank.

Perhaps not a line by line bank statement is required, but certainly some comment from the club on this contensious issue could silence a lot of the argument?

They do. Annually they release the company account statements as they are required to do by law. You can't expect more than that surely?

It is certainly going to be a season a bit different to recent ones, yes I have to agree with a previous thread that the heart has been ripped out of the team, but the young players on show so far have got so much potential, and we have a manager who has , whilst I accept not as a manager, a geat track record of working with younger stars. We are going to play a completely different style, which will take a little bit of gettting used to but we are going back to the Championship winning era of a fast pacey team. There isnt going to be instant success, but two years down the road we are going to have a team full of 21 year old who have a lot of championship experience. As long as the present owner is here we are never going to bust a gut to get proven expensive players in, he will as he always has done, be looking to do it on the cheap, but this time he has a magical crop of youngsters to fill the voids left by the players that have moved on, and an exciting new manager, so I hope that everyone sees the situation as it is, we have a young, talented, potentially brilliant, if inexperienced, side that is going to get better and better as the season progresses.

FFS. Apparently some muppets don't understand the amount of money it takes to run a succesful academy. We've decided to give it a chance this year...and I for one am delighted.

I wish I had a gun and knew the identities of certain people who visit this board.

I would rather have SJM and the current incumbants running the show than the useless collection of muppets and oxf*rd on here.

One further thing, it is one thing buying and selling players. What about the wages?

Come on folks, get some realism.

I've given up now.

But Mr C is not a regular contributor so I assume he hasn't seen (or undrstood) any of the previous 73 threads on this subject over the last year or 2.

It's when the same people keep coming out with the same old lines after people have politely, and in some detail, explained where-the-money-has-gone in the past that the gun becomes a tempting option.

The 2009 accounts will doubtless bring another round of analysis and subsequent denial by the usual suspects.

What really pisses me off is the certainty that some fans have that we will never get back to the PL with Madejski at the helm. Ignorant ungrateful dullards imo.

Oh I see, because I have refrained from posting comments for some time my comments today are invalid - attitudes such as yours are exactly why I havnt bothered and shant bother again.

I suggest you re-read my post from earlier which was balanced before you get so high and mighty - who the feck died and made you important? I suspect I was watching Reading play whilst you were still sucking your mothers tits!

Believe it or not, this is a "discussion board" to promote and "discuss" opinions - shame you dont have the maturity to entertain the thoughts and opinions of others that differ from your own.

shame on you, grow up

Revenue is down on last season, we'll be down another £11.5m this time next season (i.e. no parachute payment) and BR wants to give our younger players a chance to prove themselves. Therefore, we are not throwing money at transfers just for the hell of it.

What's so difficult to understand about that?

Perhaps you should go use the search function before getting high and mighty yourself?

Royal Rother As I have told you numerous times before if you'd just listen

Royal Rother, rising from his magic armchair, would like to call his expert witness, The Ghost That Never Lies. The defence, meanwhile, would like to refer you to Exhibit A in your committal bundle; The Over-reaction Thread.

Your bloated pomposity could cause a health scare, I'd go and get it checked out.

true blue 4 ever So, you're quite happy to see the club sell & not actually buy anybody (again) This is exactly the reason why we are not still in the Premier League. Madejski's not interested in pushing the club forward but only in pushing himself up the rich list.

Well said that man..couldn't agree more

MADEJSKI HAS NOT TAKEN A PENNY OUT OF THIS CLUB SINCE HE LOANED US THE INITIAL OUTLAY, IT IS IN MADEJSKI'S INTEREST FOR READING TO BE IN THE PREMIERSHIP FOR ANY ARGUMENTS RELATING TO HIS WEALTH TO MAKE ANY SENSE

Playing the Over-reaction thread / Pompous cards again? Oh, my shame knows no bounds.

Seriously, get a life and get over me - I am one of the more polite, if occasionally pompous, contributors on here. I enter into debate and give well structured and intelligent opinions of what's going on at the club. I am right on the button sometimes, and right off it on others.

Only those whose skin I've got under for some reason really give a shit after the dust has settled.

Move on fella.
