Watched on the TV. My young son was allowed to stay up late and had a night to remember. It was especially satisfying that he has always maintained that he supports Reading and Liverpool, even in our Premier years. Well, after about 70 minutes tonight he showed his true colours and was praying for reading goals. When the penalty went in, and even more when Long got the winner, we were dancing round the room. Unforgettable.

All the players were excellent, as was the palpable sense of team solidarity (which Liverpool equally palpably lacked). Special mentions for Gunnar (WTF did McD do to him at 90 minutes - it was like he'd been replaced with a new player for extra time. Who said he can't last 90?), and for Fed, who looked more solid than I can ever recall. And poor McAnuff - he looked like his miss after that wonder run broke his heart and seemed to disappear for a long time after. Can understand that.

Please don't let this be a false dawn, I had the strong sense last night that we may just be stumbling on the right blend: some old hands doing a fantastic shift for the team, mixed with some young talent that is gettign more and more impressive. In Karacan, Church and especially Sig, I think we've got some gems.

Nice text from very old friend who's a Liverpool fan: 'Gulf in class between teams. Reading were sooo much better. Any chance you might go after Benitez for your next manager please?'

I suspect there is no longer a vacancy.

Forgot all about that, but he was dealt with very quickly whilst play continued - was it even shown on TV at all?

Strolling stewards in no particular rush to do anything. Fedders looked bemused.

That's the standard rules of engagement between stewards and lone pitch invaders - you walk on calmly towards them - running after them would put them more on the defensive.

Allowing the person to get that far onto the pitch before reacting seemed lax stewarding.

No, you could hear the crowd though and I texted my scouse mate in the Kop end to find out what was going on at the time. He said it was some nutcase on the pitch.

My view on last night from the TV.

Fantastic performance! All the players were outstanding and we deserved to win. My man of the match goes to Simon Church, for his non stop effort during the game. Made the Liverpool defenders work and they couldn't cope with him.

Last night's win made me proud to be a Reading Fan!

URZ!

Great effort as well for all the fans who went yesterday. On the TV, you could hear the Reading fans sing.

How many of the team will be so knackered on Saturday that the Plymouth performance will be made to look like last night's performance though?

Marvellous night even though I only watched it on the tv.
As someone else has said I too let my young lad stay up and watch the game. Mum and older boy were upstairs watching something else on tv and moaned like mad about the amount of noise we were making.
My heart was pounding when Siggy took the pen and my mouth was totally dry at the end of the game.
When we equalised my little lad went upstairs to put his Reading shirt on over his pj's...so glad I let him stay up.

A memorable night. We can all feel proud.

I got back to Chesterfield at 1:30am this morning and was in work by 8.....However I don't feel tired at all. It was an amazing night and I'm still so :D :D :D :D :D . I don't think I'll have come down by the time I go to Forest. The Reading Fans were fantastic last night. The 'Sal Bibbo on Tour' crew in the row behind us made it a fantastic evening too....thanks for coming up with so many mermorable chants!!

"How much did you pay for that?"
"You're off to nick our cars"
"The Final Countdown!"
"2-1, and your goal was crap!"

I could continue to write a list of them, there were so many. As for the game....I have never seen us play so well in such a big game. I couldn't make it down for the Liverpool 3-1 three years ago....so the best I'd seen us play v a big 4 team was the Man U 0-0 away or the 1-1 at home. It isn't anymore. The whole team were fantastic, even Kebe and Long. I admit that I moaned about them being put on, but they both proved me wrong....Feds was great and handled the intrusion well.....although how that even happened is beyond me...what is the point is having so many Tangos hidden away? I could go on and on but I won't. Just over 10 years we won 1-0 over Leyton Orient in in the JPT (as is now) in front of just over 1000.....It was the worst game of football ever....I froze that night.....but nights like last night make all the shi**y days like the one above worth it......no big four fan will ever feel like I do right now after a cup win!!!
