tidus_mi2 Wasn't seeing Derby coming back like that.

Got to hand it to Rooney, they were in a terrible state. He has done pretty well. Personally thought he would be a disaster but he has done quite well.

So Cardiff's draw, means a win tomorrow realistically sees the race for the play-offs become any 2 from us, Barnsley and Bournemouth?

Boro and Cardiff would be too far back and inconsistent.

Cardiff's form has crumbled since the win at Bournemouth and giving Mccarthy a new deal.

I hope Brentford go up automatically... really wouldn't wanna play them in the playoffs.

Can't work out Bournmouth at the minute. Tonight they look like a team to avoid, but recently they have been awful.

Good fightback tonight but only 1 win in 8. He gave them an initial boost but they have slipped back and were shocking in the first half by all accounts.

Blimey didn't think it was that bad......they have looked quite decent in the games I've seen, and been a bit unlucky.

No excuses. We need to win tomorrow night to keep our five point gap over Muff.
Cardiff going through a sticky time and falling off the pace.
Watford on a very good run. Gone under the radar a bit. They look very good for second.

It was always going to be unlikely that both Cardiff & Barnsley would keep up at the pace they were going a few weeks back. I’m surprised it’s Cardiff out of the 2 who’ve pulled up...but they’ve had some tougher games

Aye, looking at Cardiff's last 3 games they may still feel confident but they realistically need 20pts from 27 now to stand a chance and will likely need to beat Swansea, Brentford and us all away from home.

Boro will need 19pts realistically to stand a chance and have Bournemouth,Watford & Barnsley in that order following a trip to Millwall on Saturday.

3-0 to Bournemouth.

Be good if we can win big tomorrow to even up the GD a bit but just winning is all that matters.

The strength of character in the team will now be exposed. Will they crumble under the pressure or rise to the challenge? Whatever the outcome. Be a good experience for the younger players.

Meite back is just in time - hopefully we can get the points tomorrow and keep some daylight between us and the chasers!

Has he done a good job or have they just started trying and reverted to mean?

There's no way Derby should have been in the bottom few based on their squad and compared to who else is in the division.

Interesting* snippet looking at form tables.

If all teams over the rest of the season follow their form over the next 10, we may actually miss out on GD - which would be a very Reading thing to do

Norwich 104
Watford 96

Swansea 88
Barnsley 87
Brentford 83
Bournemouth 75

Reading 75
Cardiff 73
Middlesboro 71

Clearly the above has Barnsley finishing W8 D2 (so a run of W16 D4) which seems unlikely.

On PPG we currently get to 78.

Form changes though, as evidenced by if you did the same test over the period of the last 5 games only, we would comfortably finish inside the play-offs

Oh absolutely - just picked 10 games as it tends to allow for a bit of fluctuation, unless you go on a Barnsley style run and it took us to the end of the season.

If over the rest of the season, teams continue as per the last 6 games

1. Norwich 109
2. Watford 94
3. Barnsley 88
4 Swansea 86
5. Brentford 84
6. Reading 78
7. Bournemouth 74
8. Boro 71
9. Cardiff 70

Does this table have 2 teams both getting 3 points in the same match by any chance?

Was just a quick illustration based on form, I have not factored in if these point tallys are acheivable given up coming fixtures but for example for Barnsley to get to 87 they would have to not lose to us but we could still get to 75 whilst losing to them.

With Bournemouth not playing on Saturday, if Reading and Barnsley win tonight and Saturday against lower ranked teams - both will be 8 points ahead of Bournemouth who will have just have 9 left to play. That would be a very big gap to make up at this stage in the season IMO. Bournemouth also look to have the hardest run in of these three sides.

We really must go for 2 wins.
