Gylfi is leaving Reading

by IcelandicStokie » 29 Aug 2010 15:54

I post this here as this no unfounded rumour or gossip but Gylfi will have a medical at German side Hoffenheim tomorrow.

Google translation about the article from Icelands biggest newspaper Morgunblaðið:

Interesting.

We'll get a nice amount, if so.
If he doesn't go, fair enough.

Pretty non-plussed.

If we get a nice amount?

Just how much do you think will be reinvested in the squad?

And don't forget all the 'we don't need proven goalscorers because we have got Gylfi' !!

The article says Gylfi could be loaned out first though.

There is no need to sell him. The money won't be reinvested in the team, so what's the point.

Best player here and we need to keep him if we want to challenge for promotion.

Two days left of the transfer window, not that we would get anyone in to replace him. Bet you it is an 'undisclosed fee' as well.

If the money is not reinvested in the team, Madejski should leave.

Wasn't Federici going to Liverpool in January according to the Aussie media? Until it is confirmed by both clubs it's a rumour.

If he goes I'll start to be quite hacked off and might just lose my rag with Madejski.

Dismantling the Prem team and not reinvesting the money but using youth players instead is one thing.

But then selling the decent youth players at the first opportunity is something else.

Just what does Madejski want?

Ah ha, our leader, the master of all wants to earn a few pounds.

This will ULTIMATELY be a good thing for the club.

With Skippy in goooal, we are sooooo dead thiss season so better to sell him when he's a Championship player rather then a League ONE door stop.

DO YOU SEE?

From the official Hoffenheim website

The transfer window is due to close on Tuesday 31st August at 12'o'clock and trainer Ralf Rangnick has not ruled out the possibility of more transfer activity: "We still have some players in mind and it's up to them if they want to commit to us or not," says the 52-year old. "We are lacking in the wider areas upfront and may look to strengthen the squad." However, panic buys will not happen at 1899. "We will not sign players where the price/performance ratio is not right for us," stated Rangnick.

They have also just sold the star midfield Carlos Eduardo to Russian Champions Rubin Kasan, I know it's 2+2 make 23 and all that, just looking around the net to see how possible this is, I personally be very suprised if Gylfi left this season as he has said himself another year of Championship football would help his development.

If Gylfi does leave, it will finally prove that Madjeski has no interest in getting Reading back into the Premiership, all he is clearly interested in is recouping some of the millions he has put into the club. We will struggle this year if we lose Gylfi, we won't have time (or be given the money) to bring in a replacement. The last two years, I like most have become disillusioned with the way the club is being run, and if this is true, I will NOT be renewing my season ticket next year.

I think the final decision would go to the club, if they decide to sell him, I don't think he has a say in it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
