Elliott I would love it, JUST LOVE IT, if we got either Notts County or Notts Forest away :)

Yep, you guessed it, going back to uni up there tomorrow...

Mr Angry I went to those interminable Welling games all those Years ago, so I should have priority!!

Incidentally, anyone else think its ironic that there is an argument about whether or not fans who saw Reading play a Premiership team should get priority to watch Reading play a League 2 team!!

:D

I went to both Welling away games - horrendous times

Any other lifers go on the special train to Hereford circa 76/77?

Don't see the big deal about Stevenage tbf, glad it's local and winnable but that's about it.

Local, winnable, new ground, detour via London on the way home. Happy days.

I was so supposed to play in a cup final there in 1984, but broke my leg two-weeks before..... so I get priority for a ticket.

btw my team won the Cup.

If I recall the Borough had not long been formed from the ashes of defunct Stevenage Town, the ground was quite new (can't recall if it was a new site, or that of the original team) and has clearly been developed a lot since those days.

Although I made good friends there, Bracknell was civilised in comparisson.

Kitson12
winchester_royal Wouldn't be suprised to see this game make it onto TV...

^This.

I'd be staggered.

It's two essentially no mark teams with no star players and no cup pedigree to speak of.

Agreed Schards.

Can see Southampton v Man U, and Notts County v Man C being the "minnows v big boys" ties with Fulham v Spurs and Everton v Chelsea being the "glamour" ties.

But the "magic of the cup" is all about underdogs, and the media will pounce on Stevanage as the minnows.

I don't expect it to be the main Sunday match, but I'd not be too surprised to see it selected.

You say that....but if you look at most of the media outlets...this is one of the first ties to get mentioned.

Apart from the United game, I would say that it's a pretty uninspiring set of ties. And given their performance against the Toon, Stevenage have now become everyone's second team in the competition.

I thought there were 4, and one tomorrow, so 5. What were the other two? (3 ESPN, and 2 ITV)

Why should season ticket holders get priority? For the thousands of season ticket holders who came after the premier league, they get priority? I'm not a season ticket holder anymore.. but i still attend games whenever i can, on royalty points il get in before most. But i'm just saying season ticket holders shouldn't have priority over royalty points.[/quote]

Lowerwestjnr - really don't see how you can argue this. You openly admit you go "whenever you can" yet for some reason you expect to be in front of those who are actively supportiing the club NOW with regards to cup tickets.

Priority should go to those who are regularly putting their hands in their pockets to watch Reading & like it or not the ones who do that most are generally season ticket holders.

If you haven't had a season ticket for say 3-4 years then to be honest I think it's terrible that you may have more royalty points that a current season ticket holder.

Also - I disagree with your comment about people who started watching once we went up. So what if people came once we got to the PL? - if they're still in 2010 forking out their ST money each June then what axe can you possibly have to grind against them? They are putting their cash into the club now when lets face it it's more expensive to watch RFC than it used to be when the royalty points first started.

I would be genuinely surprised if we were on TV. Just can't see it being much of a glamour tie...

You mean a glamour tie like the live game tomorrow night Crawley Town v Derby.

Non-league team in the 3rd round...

Stevenage aren't non-league any more, so not quite the same novelty value. And while they may not have the lure of Man Utd or Liverpool, Derby are still enough of a name to pique the interest of armchair supporters more than Reading are.

If we are chosen, I really hope we don't get that crappy Monday night slot though.

Arsenal or Leeds v Huddersfield
Fulham v Tottenham
Everton v Chelsea
Southampton v Manchester United
Notts County v Leicester or Man City
Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers
West Ham v Nottingham Forest

...are probably all more likely games to be picked.

If Stevenage were playing someone more high profile then maybe, but seeing as its us then I doubt we'll be on TV.

I reckon they'll show:

Arsenal/Leeds vs Huddersfield
Everton vs Chelsea
Notts County vs Leicester/Man City
Southampton vs United
Stevenage vs Reading.

AthleticoSpizz you can thank Sky tv and the disciples that buy into it Jeff

Sky call all of the shots and kick-off times

Except when it comes to the FA Cup - that'll be ESPN and ITV, mate
sky started the ball rolling

suckers (like many on here) have bought into it

Espn have joined the gravy train, changed kick-off times and also charge you to watch what once was free

mate

When were there 5 3rd round games on for free? In fact did there even used to be 2 (as this weekend)?

Prolly IN for this btw, i don't go away that often but I've dished the club enough money in the past to be at the front of the queue and no amount of crying from someone who disagrees with that system is going to change it.
