facaldaqui Not only that, but they relegated us by not trying against Fulham. And when we did beat them, when they were managed by Ian St John, their fans smashed up my uncle's shop in Oxford Road. I'm looking for 6-0.

Barry the bird boggler Saturday sees the return of our jinx team in Portsmouth. No wins from any home game against them since 6th January 1982
1982/83 - Lost 1-2
1986/87 - Drew 2-2
1994/95 - Drew 0-0
1995/96 - Lost 0-1
1996/97 - Drew 0-0
1997/98 - Lost 0-1
2002/03 - Drew 0-0
2006/07 - Drew 0-0
2007/08 - Lost 0-2
So that's a nice tidy run of 9 games, no wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats, scoring a massive 3 goals (or averaging 0.33 goals a game).
In fact we haven't scored at home against them in our last 6 attempts or since the days of Kevin Bremner and Gary Peters (they who scored the last home goals against them)
So, as records are made to be broken, I think its about time we well and truly put this one out of its misery.

kieran Well, jealousy can eat you up if you are not careful. BTW on the whole our fans dont seem to have a bad word to say about Reading. In fact when we are not playing you most wish you the best of luck. Not sure if that helps.
Is it really a jinx though? Isnt it just that most of the time we have met (not a fantastic amount really) that Pompey have usually been better? I mean we do the same and refer to Blackburn as a jinx, but in reality they are usually just that little bit better.
Anyway, certainly not expecting the same this time. You are clearly the better side.
BTW - the fans thing is not really a myth. the FA Cup semi final was officially measured as the loudest ever at Wembley at the time. In the prem Pompey were voted best fans four years running and recorded as the loudest average db reading over 5 season (source - the mirror). The media got the impression about the fans as they were at games at Fratton park when it was literally wall to wall non stop 90 minute singing. Henry and Arsenal bowed to all four sides of FP as did Milan. There have been times when the commentary has stopped because they could not be heard. You tube it, witness it for yourself - its no myth. Once again the fans will turn up in their thousands (twice as many as you took to FP) to watch a load of carp (and trust me we are carp). Great fans - yes, a few pratts - absolutely.
Good luck for the play off push after Saturday.
