Thought when i heard this that it would be a very good signing. Of course will be disappointed to see Long leave and not sign one new striker this summer if what's being reported is correct. Seems we've had a look at Le Fondre and decided to not renew interest as i know for a fact that RFC have had an eye on him and 'scouted' him whilst at Rotherham. Oh well.

The big question with Le Fondre is that is scoring exploits at the lower levels have been known for at least 2 seasons now and absolutely no Championship club has deemed him worth taking a chance on. Maybe he's already at his level.

There will be other clubs coming in for him at that price, I'd assume Leicester would give it a punt. I'd be surprise if a) we bid and b) he joins us over other Champ clubs.

Think the step up from Div 2 to Championship might be too much to expect.

We have taken the risk with Manset but he is younger and has more time to develop. And look how unfit he was to start with compared to our players.

If we were to buy a striker I would again look at Bradley W-P - at least he has scored goals in this division. But we are not going to anyway as the mamanger has stated many times. We have to give what we have a chnace and if they don't step up there is the loan market.

I wasn't really going on how many they scored in league two - i was more on about if they've done it at a higher level....Manset was a gamble as is Williams so why would we do it again when we could buy a proven Championship scorer

Yeah I'm sure they are at that price. He could either start brilliantly score 15 / 20 goals this season or warm the bench because he needs time to step up. For 500k the potential is too great to turn away from.

Actually his goals/starts ratio last season was no better than Manset's in that league.
