If we are doing one per decade, based on contribution as well as ability, then:

Friday
Senior
Parky
Murty

Good.

Keep going.

Real food for thought here.

Mid Sussex Royal It depends if you mean best actual player in terms of ability or best re contribution to club.

Osborn only played for RFC for one season (and was injured for a good part of it) - I'd have to go with Parky from the 90's.

Good call, Parky. How could I forget him?

Parky, player of the decade? Really? He couldn't even get in the team when we were good.

I love the way he played, but at the same time you had players like Gooding, Williams, the Polish International, Osbourn, Shaka and Gilkes. If Parky was to qualify I think you'd have a good case for McPherson too. A true stalwart and legend but I can't think of any argument for nominating him as player of the decade I'm afraid.

Tricky one to answer when you ask for "best", because position comes into play - I can't judge between Shaka and Simon Osborne, for instance.

I suppose what I'm after is the player who has made the biggest impact during each decade.

Difficult, I know, but the contributions have been really helpful.

I'm close........

Ah, "biggest contribution" is different to "best" in my book - Rougier was one of the best, but I'd not put him in a subutteo team becasue his effectiveness and contribution was so bad.

So I'll give you :

70's Friday
80's Senior
90's Shaka
00's Sidders
10's Long

Really on the reasoning that each of those players was "the missing piece" that actually made things happen for us.

1970s - Malcolm Swain
1980s - Irvin Gernon
1990s - Michael Meaker
2000s - Paul Brooker

Seriously, though...
Steve Death - played for us throughout the decade
Martin Hicks - same as above and even though he was even slower than Alex Pearce, he was phenominal in the air. I particularly remember epic battles that he had with keith walwyn and John Byrne of York City
The 90s is really difficult. A load of utter Twyfords at the bginning and the end sandwiching 2 terrific seasons. My call would be...
Jimmy Quinn - The best centre forward I have seen play and I include Robin Friday in that assessment.
2000s is similar to the previouos decade. dross at the start and finish but with more brilliance sandwiched in between. My choice, purely because of the length of time at the club and in and around the first team goes to...
Graeme Murty - signed by Burns, converted to full back and club captain during our best ever period in our history.

70s Friday (but fair shout to those that picked Death)
80s Senior
90s Quinn
00s Tough call. If it is BEST player, than I'll pick Doyle (but could have gone for Curo, Fozzy or Murty).

Git of a question.
