Roberts Red Card

by Friday's Legacy » 21 Apr 2012 17:13

It sounds like we might appeal that decision. Apparently the replays suggest Roberts did catch the player with an elbow, but that it didn't look like violent conduct.

Hope for you guys its only a 1 match ban?

I noticed who the ref was...one of the poorest of an average bunch.

Brian said he's spoken to D'Urso who at least said he'd have a look at the incident. No guarantees, obviously. But it's worth a punt.

didn't see the game but seems to me he's been doing his best for the last half dozen games to get a red

They're not carried over to next season are they? So he would only miss one game.

I'd say they would?

Unless it is because it is in another league?

The sending off was for violent conduct, so that's a three game ban. Also, suspensions for sending offs do carry over to the next season, so if it stands then he will miss the first two games.

D'urso is likely to say he was right and save embarrassment rather than admit he's wrong...

I would love to be proved wrong however...

After the Ashley Young farce, appeals look to be a total waste of time.

The ref has agreed to review the incident and Parr who took the elbow has also said he thought it was accidental. I think the basics are there for that to be overturned.

DOGSO is not serious foul play or violent conduct (strikes me as the earlier rather than the latter because they were challenging for the ball).

Connor Sammon had a very similar red card overturned earlier in the season after he was incorrectly sent off for touching Michael Carrick with his arm.

I now feel really guilty for booing Parr.

A really sporting player if that is the case.

Oh cheers, mate. I hadn't considered I should feel guilty until you mentioned it and now I feel bad too!!!

Yes, the ban is carried over to next year. Ady Williams confirmed he would miss the first 2 games of next season ...... as long as he's still our main striker

This is the same oxf*rd that feigned injury twice within the first couple of minutes. Hardly sporting, more guilt pangs because he knows what's in the video.

You might have a point. Unless he genuinely was knocked out he made no attempt to tell D'Arsehole at the time.

I saw it differently and it looked like he did catch the bloke(with fore-arm). Itwas a yellow 100%, red card a tad harsh but I can see why.

Although not Roberts style, after viewing it there is no way that will get rescinded and it has a red card all over it. Massive shame.
