Jem Karacan - High Average Speed

by moo » 09 Sep 2012 17:08

So, according to The Daily Mail, our Jem has the second highest average speed for the whole of the Premier League thus far, achieved in the game v Chelsea. Very good sign seeing as he can only move on from this and he returns to full fitness , and he has had 2 less games than many of his rivals to achieve this.

Kagawa (Man U v Fulham) - 5.36 mph
Jem -5.18
Ward-Prowse (Soton)
Kagawa (Man U v Soton)
Milner - 4.98 (Man City)

Nice to see he does indeed have that powerful engine we discuss.

Come on man, nobody is perfect. He's a good guy - stopped to sign a photo for my Dad in the club shop and was very personable.

That's an impressive stat for Jem, and very encouraging!

It's impressive, though I can't help but feel the one game sample for him and max three games for everyone else, makes it a little meaningless right now.

I think Kagawa was subbed off in both those games?

Not surprised really, I seem to remember him spending most of his time at Stamford Bridge desperately trying to chase down Eden Hazard.

I think you've misinterpreted the stat, it's for highest average speed over 1 match rather than over the season, hence why Kagawa was on there twice.

Kagawa was subbed in the 61 (Sou) and 68 mins (Ful).

Ward-Prose was subbed in the 65minute of that game

Milner was subbed at 76 mins

Jem was subbed on 71 mins.

Not exactly sure what to make of the highest average speed stat

I don't think it means anything useful really. A stat over the whole season would be much more interesting.

Or from another perspective, that stamina and work rate are amongst his strongest attributes.

Jem is arguably, if not obviously our hardest working player and one of our most important players. We wouldn't be as sucessful without him and his quality. His distribution of the ball and his ability to control the midfield are outstanding.

Hmmm I'm not sure I agree his distribution is outstanding, although it has been a few times I suppose. Just not in general.

Because he's always having to run quickly to get back into position?

I would say his distribution of the ball has improved of late but it is certainly not outstanding.
