What could we do to survive now???

by Reading4eva » 11 Dec 2012 22:44

We might be 6 points behind but teams have turned it round before from this position. So what do we do, who do we sign, who leaves.

I'd say, first of all, McD to step aside. New manager should be Curbishley, Coppell or someone with big balls. Someone who wont give up the fight. Warnock? I know it sounds extreme, but its worth a go.

Next we need some quality ASAP in January. Ayew or Adu up front or both. Midfield, get in a two strong midfielders who are willing to fight, Palacios maybe. Bring in Guthrie, put an arm round him and tell him to turn round our season. Throw him the armband and make him know hes got a chance to be great. Defence Morrison and Pearce all over. HRK to play on the wing with McCleary the other side. A goalkeeper, Camp for example with little to play for in the Championship but the quality to succeed. Schemichel would be another good call.

To go. Leigertwood and Gorkss - Championship players but we arent intending on going back there. Tabb, hard worker but not good enough. Pog, disappointing. Federici shown hes not professional and now thinks hes a billy big bollox. See how he feels when hes turning out for Coventry every week.

Follow that path and we'll give ourselves a chance. We might not stay up - but at least we would of given it a bloody good go

Ayew? Palacios?

This isn't Fifa 13...

Nothing. This team could have survived from a level starting point, the right tactics, the right selection and a hefty slice of luck. It's now utterly doomed. All we can do is learn our lesson, salvage some pride and start building a team that can actually play decent football, bounce back within the next 2 - 3 seasons and have a better chance of sticking this time.

I think the main positive we have is that in the second half of the season we play Southampton, QPR, Villa, Sunderland and Wigan all at home. We make a few changes and get our home form together, it gives us a chance.

The key lies in the ability to defend and score more goals than the opposition.

Putting desire aside, I just don't think the current squad has the skill to compete week in week out in the Premiership.

We're done. We're not good enough.

22 games left, but 6 of those are against United, City, Spurs and Arsenal. Would be a miracle if we took any points from those. 30 points from 16 games? Not a chance.

Hilarious. Curbishley would not come. Warnock has always failed at this level. Doubt Coppell will want to come back. The only one who might be worth a shout is Mick McCarthy who was hard done by at Wolves but he is busy turning Ipswich round. There are NO stand out candidates.

As for players you can only get rid in January if someone wants them.

I do feel we are doomed but a Holloway-esque character coming in for the duration of the season might brighten things up a bit.

McCarthy? Are you being serious?

This is a guy who told his players not to close down shots outside the box because of football probability... however he didn't factor that Premiership players can score more from 30 yards than your average footballer...

fail.

Still better than any other options I can think of - which is why I want Brian to stay. Unless of course we call on Paul Jewell or Steve Cottrill.

Are you just listing generic footballing managers who somehow get jobs but don't actually achieve anything?

What the hell would Jewell or Cottrill do to help our position? Next you'll be naming Phil Brown and Ian Dowie...

Kidnap Federici, McAnuff, Leigertwood and McDermott and not release them until May 2013.

Why not go down, take the parachute payment and then get promoted again at the first time of asking but £30m richer with the same manager?
