RoyalWire
reading_fan Can see us getting something at Stoke on Saturday too

I'd be happy to pick up a draw there, and then the same against everton too. Then we're looking in nicer shape!

Win both and I wouldn't write off Europe.

The most important three points will be when we play Villa, Wigan, QPR and Southampton. We put three points in all those games we should be fine.

I think we need three points from our remaining home games, on top of that. Our margin for error is practically zero. If we draw any of those games, then I hope we draw with Southampton. Beating the other three is essential though.

Win one, draw one, lose one for the rest of the season will do (probably - will make last day at West Ham a nervy one though)

The most important thing is not to lose the home games against Soton, Wigan, Villa and QPR to give them ground on us.

The way we are going now we can easily pick up points elsewhere so in my opinion there is not so much reliance on winning these games.

We have already exceeded expectations since start of year by beating WBA, winning at Newcastle, and drawing with Chelsea so points against the likes of Stoke, Norwich and Fulham look more achievable now.

There are times when I think whoever invented the calculator should have faced a firing squad :|

We have 6 homes games left 6 x 3 = 18 + 23 (our points total so far) = 41

So, we can get more points than we will need just by winning our home games and could then afford to lose all 7 remaining away fixtures..............................that's a potentially massive margin for error :|

the maths is fine. the suggests we need to win one further home game than those in the quoted post. .so win 5 home games.the margin for error is small as the post assumes that is the best case scenario in his opinion.

however we have seen this club written off many times recently.. remember the hoo ha when st renewals was early last year, forethought relegation was still likely i seem to recall.

this season i predict we will be are after the fulham game at some, non st holder be asap this will sell out fast

I've read that sentence several times and still don't understand it. Is it my early morning stupidity, or has a random phrase generator taken over?

If we won 5 home games we would still have 38pts, enough to survive without securing one solitary point on our travels.......................still loads of margin for error.

There's no knife edge here. Maintain our current form and we will be fine. As someone else suggested, 3 wins and a few draws might be enough if the wins are at the expense of others at the wrong end of the table.

I think I'm right that if we draw all our remaining games, we finish on 37, which is likely to see us stay up. So you could also look at it that for every game we win from now on, we can afford to lose two, providing we draw the rest. 1 point per game baby!

Obviously that falls down if we need more than 37, which is possible the way teams at the bottom are picking up points now.

If we lose the three home games to QPR-Wigan-Villa, one point per game overall may not be enough

We need to beat these sides.

We MIGHT get away with drawing, but home defeats will be very serious

I think QPR, Villa, Wigan and Saints are all capable of winning on our patch

Grimsby are capable of winning on our patch if we play like we did before Christmas.

Positive results yes, but the teams around us will be saying all the same things with good reason. Still odds on for the drop, but at least we'll go down kicking and screaming rather than dead by March.

We won't win all of the 'crunch' games. If we won 2, drew one, lost one I'd be over the moon with that.

We never do it the easy way. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we screwed those games up & then went and beat City & West Ham in the final two games to nick survival at the death.

I will whisper it quietly but

I am secretly hoping we keep this bandwagon rolling and get most of the points required in the next month as I can't deal with the stress of survival sunday

Safe after Fulham at home is my predicction, i hate posting on mobile.

Non ST holders buy soon, this game will sell out fast as fans realise.

Same as so many missed out at Leicester and Forest last season.

Buying my tickets as soon as i can.

Given Fulham at home was in October, I'm delighted we're already safe.

A case of as you are. Need that win against Wigan otherwise we need to be picking up a win at one of the more difficult games on paper. Margin for error is less and less.
