Jake Taylor

Found this little snippet in the article:

In other news, young academy graduate Jake Taylor has impressed his new boss this summer and has been told he will be part of the first team picture for the coming season.

Does anybody know much about him, I've never been sure on his position as it seems to constantly change. Good news for the club if another academy player is finally coming through. I always thought it would be too late for him.

Lets hope he can keep up the good work.

He played for the Wales U21 at 16 or 17, if I recall correctly.

There was a lot of hype around him and he finally seems to be realising his potential.

Watched him a few times for Exeter - nothing special and their fans weren't too bothered when he left.

Don't remember Karacan and a few others doing much in other loan spells but still managed to cement a place in our squad.

Don't get me wrong, I would love him to break through into the first team. Nigel obviously knows a lot more than me and some old exeter fans and if he is saying that he is good enough for the first team then he must have something.

Whats his main position, I know that he has played on both wings, up front, behind the striker (CAM) and central midfield.

He played in the Wycombe friendly and from the line-ups he could have played anywhere across the 3 midfield.

Taylor----------Jobi---------McCleary

----------------Pog---------------------

I assume it was something like that.

Manager Nigel Adkins wants to give young players their opportunity in the first team - and says our Category One Academy status is a huge step in the right direction.

The boss said, "Category One is really exciting and we've got a good setup here. We're looking forward to it and giving all of them an opportunity to keep progressing through to the first team. We want to see whether we can get youngsters through the system – several of them have been training with us, and that's really pleasing.

Like James Henry he was a stand-out for the reserves at 18 but struggled to get first team football and stagnated a bit. He should suit Adkins' style of football a bit more though and he's only 21, still plenty of time to make it in the Championship or above.

Thought Swindon rated HRK as their best loan signing ever - better than Milner.

I seem to remember mixed reviews. In the main they wanted to keep him but said his crossing was wayward and he needed to compose himself more. Took a few years but he's turned into a man-mountain of a winger. He could be very useful in a central role next season!

I like him tbh, not particularly imposing physically, but technically very sound and a decent work-rate. No reason (IMHO) why he can't figure next season assuming improvement over the last few months.

I think Jordan Obita has more potential. Hopefully will be easier for him to shine in our team this season under Adkins.

Bournemouth and Millwall fans seem to remember differently.

Never been impressed with Taylor when I've seen him, particularly at Exeter. But if Adkins thinks he can make an impact on the first team then that's enough for me.

Karacan, Pearcem Hal all shone on their loans.

Taylor, Obita, D'ath etc for some reason haven't. Not going to question the decisions makers at the club, but do often wonder the value of 1 month or three month loans. They have essentially been brought in as cover in those instances and will only truly exceptional players would force their way in above experienced pro's.

Taylor needs to nail down a position, I've seen him play attacking midfield and link play up well but nothing stand out. I've also seen him look a bit shit as a striker and on the wing.

Presumably based on that he's spent most of his development time in midfield?

Rave reviews playing for Swindon.

Most of us would get rave reviews playing for Swindon. Their fans are not exactly used to watching high class footie are they?
