Team for Blackpool

by URZZZZ » 22 Aug 2013 15:20

I think that we need to change our team around to try and improve, especially defensively.
Mccarthy
Mariappa
Morro
Gunter
Kelly
Williams
Guthrie
Jem
Drenthe
Mccleary
Blackman

Bench: Fed, Bridge, Pearce, Akpan, Kebe, Mcanuff and Alf

If Kebe unavilable then Ugwu or HRK

Have Blackpool still got a plough field rather than a football pitch?

That might dictate your team.

4-3-3

McCarthy

Bridge
Morrison
Mariappa
Gunter

Williams
Guthrie
Karacan

Drenthe
Blackman/Pog
McCleary

Subs: Feds, Kelly, Pearce, Akpan, McAnuff, Blackman/Pog, Le Fondre

Harsh on Alf but I'm yet to be convinced he can to a job as a lone striker. Last chance for Gunter to really cement his place in the team, Kelly's too solid to be confined to the bench if we keep leaking goals.

What ya talking about brotha? D'ya think I should've put Henly on the bench instead of Taylor?

Happy with any team Adkins puts out tbh. But my guess would be Williams / McCleary in for ALF with us playing a similar shape to against Bolton. It's not what I'd do, but then I wouldn't have picked exactly the previous sides either and I do firmly believe consistency in selection is very important.

I think Williams looked sharp off the bench and is a bit hard done by having only been a sub so far. Plus he'd offer more defensively. Although it means shifting Drenthe out wide.

Whilst we haven't kept a clean sheet, I didn't see a whole lot wrong with our defence on Saturday, so I don't think there's any need for changes there. The only possibility is Gunter out for Kelly, but I think Adkins will stick with the more attacking, younger, player.

So that's:

..................McCarthy
...Gunter, Morrison, Pearce, Bridge
..............Guthrie, Karacan
Drenthe........Williams.......McAnuff
.................Blackman

Subs: Federici, Mariappa, Kelly, McCleary, Le Fondre, Robson-Kanu, Akpan

I'd like to see us play what I consider more or less our strongest side.

McCarthy; Kelly, Pearce, Mariappa, Bridge; Karacan, Guthrie; Kebe(/McCleary if unfit), Drenthe, McAnuff; Pogrebnyak

Subs: Federici, Morrison, Gunter, Williams, McCleary/HRK, Blackman, Le Fondre

Feds, Kelly, pearce, williams, mcanuff, kebe, alf

Ugwu in for kebe if not fit
Mapps in for pearce to help deal with ince and phillips.

I have thought long and hard about this and I want to see
-------------McCarthy----------------
Kelly---Pearce---Mariappa---Bridge
-------Karacan---Guthrie------------
McCleary---Drenthe---HRK---------
----------------POG------------------
I prefer Kelly. We have let in silly goals and Mapps might be the solution..
HRK will want to perform better for the fans and to try win a first team place so I'm hoping he is hungry
POG. Lets try him out ffs.

................McCarthy
...Kelly, Morrison, Pearce, Bridge
...........Guthrie, Karacan
HRK...........Drenthe.......McAnuff(c)
...............Le Fondre

Bench - Federici, Gorkss, Gunter, McCleary(or Kebe if fit), Williams, Blackman, Pogrebnyak

The pitch is crap, so this won't be about silky skills or fast accurate passing. Blackpool are seriously lacking any attacking threat, so I wouldn't be surprised to find us finishing with a more attacking shape.

I like this, though I'd vote the same every week, so it'll soon get stale. Preferred McLeary on the right in the past, but he'll be clever either way.
