Busy weekend ahead for the Academy. First up the U 18’s travel to Carrington to play Man Utd on Saturday 2nd KO 11am. This is a PL U 18 league cup tie and we are in Group F and we also play in our group Southampton(H) and Wolves (A). There are 7 groups of 4- the 26 PL 2 clubs plus Barnsley and Peterborough from the PDL
On Sunday 3rd the U 21’s travel to Boreham Wood to play Arsenal in a PL 2 fixture KO 12 noon. It will be a good test for the youngsters to see if they can retain their 100% record.

Out of interest, don't PL2 sides get the opportunity to play the equivalent academy sides of European nations. I presume Reading would have to win or finish in the top 3/4 places of their leagues to qualify or is qualification a bit more open than that?

Yes there is the PL2 International Cup. Top 12 in PL2 qualify.

No, the Premier League 2 is an U21 competition.

The U18s have the UEFA Youth League, but that's much harder to qualify for. You need to win the league. Alternatively, your senior side needs to qualify for the Champions League, which is not a realistic option for us in the next few years.
