Barring a very late turnaround, u21s back up to 4th and will need a point at Forest to guarantee a home tie in the 1st round of the play-offs.

Might not even need a point as there are 7 matches tonight.

Yep. Looks like they are guaranteed a home playoff now. Win on Monday will guarantee 4th spot.

I don’t fully understand how the structure works, and appreciate some clubs place lower priority on this league, but when half the squad he might have normally expected to have had available to him were needed at various times for the 1st team, plus everything else going on at the club, to finish above the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City etc. etc. seems like an extraordinary achievement for Noel Hunt.

It would be a shame but someone’s going to give him a full opportunity of 1st team management next season, surely?

Given how many failures are on the merrigoround, I wouldn’t say it's a big worry.

If we have any sense we're grooming him to replace Selles for 25/26, 26/27 or 27/28.

Good chance it might be Forest again in the POs then or, failing that, Brighton.

7th is the absolute lowest we can finish, which in itself is a fantastic achievement. Draw at Forest will see us finish 6th, a win 4th and theoretically give us an easier game in the play-off round of 16.

I assume, looking at the format, the home side will be whoever finishes higher up the league. Assuming that applies in all rounds, coming fourth would ensure a home game until the semi-final (if we got that far). If they're at the Madejski, I'd be in for them.

Even if we finish 7th, it would be an amazing season in a normal year, but given the number of players who'd usually be in the U21s were playing first team football this season - Dorsett; Craig; Ehib; Abrefa (latterly); Wareham (latterly); Vickers (earlier); Abbey (earlier); Carson (earlier) all spring to mind - it's incredible. New signings like Bindon and Elliott may have played a couple of matches as well.

Suggests we've still got a very strong academy set up, despite everything that's gone on off the pitch. I wonder if players like Jeremiah Okine-Peters, Adrian Akande, Charlie Wellens or John Ryan could come into the first team squad on a regular basis next season - those first two are both wingers, so could help resolve our problems there without having to sign anyone.

I'd think they can be part of the solution along with Camara. Ideally we'd keep Azeez and sign a LW who is 1st team ready with some experience under their belt. Then these guys can get chances off the bench and in the cups, and possibly a decent run in the team if there is an injury.

It's badly written on the PL website but it does look like the highest seeded side will be at home throughout - so yes, 4th would guarantee us a home tie in the round of 16 but not sure what happens next i.e. does it remain a seeded draw or is it a free draw i.e. we could get the #1 seed in the QFs and be away or the #10 seed and be at home.

Tough one for next year - head tells me we need to bring in 3/4 strong div1 players

On the other hand it sounds like there’s some real talent in the u21 side - Carson, Ryan, Akande, Tuma etc - all could be worth a go

Guess it depends who leaves as well
