There must be a few in there close to the bench given departures. John Clark was on the fringe before his massive injury, and Wareham looks like a prospect.

Great win.

Based on this thread, I'm guessing you watch our youth teams fairly regularly. Are there any players who you think are close to being involved in the first team squad next season (based on us being in League One)?

Jayden Wareham i rate. Senga is classy and from the current U 18’s Coke Miles Smith seems to be rated by Noel Hunt and Joe Barough has impressed me as well.

Always thought there was something there with Jahmari Clarke from the first time I saw him (cup appearance against Swansea IIRC). Followed that up with some decent looking cameos off the bench, most noticeably the brace against Birmingham (more goals in 45 minutes than our £7 million striker in half a season!)

Had raw attributes to be a viable option IMO for us but something seems to have gone amiss given that he’s never really kicked on amongst various loan spells

Jahmari was one of those big physical lads who have potential, but are also quite awkward and clumsy. And it seems he's not grown out of the clumsiness into a proper footballer.

That has to hurt, losing to the only team already out of the competition (and who hadn't won at all in it) when all they needed was a draw to top the group - instead they crash out. Pressure does strange things at all levels but at youth level probably more so, our boys would have played with a relaxed air as it was a dead rubber for them.

Focus on the remaining 8 league games and hope to get in the play-offs. Currently in 8th so occupy the last spot for a home draw in the first round.

Interestingly* Man City u21 bottom of the pile as I guess all their best players at that age group are off on loan if not in the first team squad.

Next up for the U21’s is a rare Saturday lunchtime fixture next Saturday 17th February. It’s a PL 2 home fixture against Sunderland KO 12pm. The match is at Bearwood and even though as always RFC won’t advertise, season ticket holders can attend( i will be there) by getting a £5 ticket from the ticket office.

Has Basil Tuma been injured or sent on loan that I've missed. Was a bit surprised to see Wareham leapfrog him in the pecking order.

Definitely not out on loan so any continued absence must be injury. He's 19 in April for the record.

Possibly school related?

He looks very handy when I’ve seen clips of him in u21

Basil Tuma is here watching and is a couple of weeks away for being in contention after hamstring injury.

Wareham is a proper traditional goalscorer, and pretty good at it (probably the best penalty box player we've had at youth level since Liburd, who was well into his 20s). Tuma is a more "modern" type of forward along the lines of Vickers or Azeez.

Been very impressed with both in the limited apps they've had.

Nice to see Jamari Clarke back amongst the goals, always thought he may be good enough to become a decent striker. I guess injuries have curtailed his progress the past few seasons.
Always thought Clarke had a bit more to him than both Ehib and Wareham? Any of you U23 regulars have any feedback?
