I'd be genuinely intrigued what our interest was in Austin, who imho is great value at the £4m QPR paid for him. Were we ever interested? Did we consider £4m too much? Did we forget about him? Did we delay and then lose out?

A players ability has no impact whatsoever on your ability to fork out four million on a single player

If £4m is too much, then the noises coming out of AZ should be silenced.

Agree totally. Though not sure he ever put a figure on spending, or guarateed 7 players

You look at what was said with your eyes and translate it using what you know about what you should take from statements from clubs and other businesses inside your brain.

I am sure there were a few articles stating he wanted to add up to 7 players?

loads, but again, thats not a guarantee, thats an aspiration

its saying i aim to get 7 players in.

unfortunately, not every shot aimed hits its mark.

of course it makes him look daft, and he should probably be expecting some ire.

He'd LOVE me - I'd match him in vodka drinking for a start - we'd have a rare old time AND I'd get some answers from him and point him in the right direction. ... in a motherly sort of way.

LoyalRoyal22 Pretty much sums up Melonhead when the only thing he is dissapointed in is the release of Noel Hunt

To be fair to Melonhead, having Keith Scott as backup would be useful right now.

I'm disappointed we got rid of Hunt, in fact more than disappointed but just outright extremely confused. Even getting rid of church was weird. I mean,, WTF? But having said that we still have the Pog so maybe he can come good. Even then only 3 fit strikers? I just can't get my head round it.

Sissoko held talks

The Royals will continue to operate in the transfer market over the coming weeks, with out-of-contract players still available to us and the emergency window opening in seven days’ time, for both loan deals and those with a view to permanent signings.

On deadline day and this morning the Royals held talks with vastly experienced midfielder Momo Sissoko, and talks with him may continue in the future as he is out of contract.

The Royals have already signed Wayne Bridge, Danny Williams and Royston Drenthe this summer; with those additions we have a strong Championship squad and have named seven full internationals on the bench in recent weeks. We have also signed players on renewed contracts, and importantly retained top players despite interest from other clubs.

We will of course keep our supporters informed of any further developments in due course.
