Team for Brighton

by ImReadingTillIDie » 08 Sep 2013 17:52

After a bright game for Obita I'm wondering if it is realistic if he will start against Brighton. What team do you think we will play?

I'd like it to be 4-2-3-1 like this...

McCarthy

Bridge, Pearce, Morro, Gunter

Williams, Karacan

Drenthe, Guthrie, McCleary

ALF

Subs: Feds, Kelly, Obita, HRK, Pog, Ugwu, McAnuff

Probably too many wingers on the bench and I'd like to see an U21 like Griffin, Taylor or Samuel on the bench if there are any injuries, but who knows with NA and his team selection :|

============McCarthy============

==Gunter==Morrison==Pearce==Bridge==

=========Karacan===Guthrie======

==McCleary====Williams=====Drenthe==

==============Pog=================

Federici, Gorkss, Kelly, Akpan, HRK, Le Fondre, Ugwu

Really need to accommodate both Le Fondre and Pogrebnyak, and Williams needs to be involved.

------------------------------------ McCarthy ------------------------------------

Gunter ----------------- Morrison --------- Pearce -------------------- Bridge

------------------------------------- Karacan ------------------------------------

---------------------- Williams ------------------ Guthrie ----------------------

--------------- Le Fondre ------------------------------ Drenthe ---------------

----------------------------------- Pogrebnyak ----------------------------------

................McCarthy
...Kelly, Morrison, Pearce, Bridge
...........Karacan, Guthrie
....Drenthe, Williams, McAnuff
...............Le Fondre

Federici, Gorkss, Gunter, Akpan, McCleary, Pogrebnyak, Robson-Kanu

Drenthe, Williams and McAnuff all interchanging and drifting wide / getting beyond Le Fondre as he drifts wide etc. Karacan and Guthrie rotating in and out of Williams position with him dropping back to cover them.

Too soon for the first team for Obita but I think it's definitely time he started making cameos from the bench.

Let's be honest, Griffin is nowhere near the first team. He played in the first team in the Oman friendly merely because fullbacks such as Cummings, Gunter were away, and Bridge was rested.

There's a few youth players who we might expect to see in the actual first team this season, Griffin is not one of them.

tidus_mi2 Too soon for the first team for Obita but I think it's definitely time he started making cameos from the bench.

Seen him in the first team in the cup twice and he's been utterly anonymous. Yet he's looked skillfull and tricky in pre-season and on loan.

I'm worried he's too scared to take risks and play his natural game when he hits the first team. A slower bit by bit introduction may help with this. Late game where there's no pressure, or he has to take risks to try to deliver a game changing moment for us.

If I was manager:

................McCarthy
...Gunter, Morrison, Pearce, Bridge
......Karacan, Guthrie, Williams
...McCleary..................Drenthe
...............Le Fondre

Subs: Gorkss, Kelly, McAnuff, Obita, Robson-Kanu, Ugwu, Samuel

WIth Ugwu coming on to go two up front with half an hour or so to go if we're not winning at that point.

Well how's he going to do that unless you put him on the bench?

McAnuff wont see many more starts unless there's injuries. I think Adkins has seen that we have others who are ahead of him now, and judging by Obits's excellent showing yesterday, he too should also be ahead of him and most definitely be on the bench as of Brighton, and why not Ugwu as well?

We clearly can't score for shit no matter how many "strikers" we have, so I'd like to see this;

==================McCarthy================
==kelly====Morro====Pearce=====Hector=====Bridge
==Gunter===Karacan====Williams====Guthrie===McAnuff

2 against Ipswich
1 against Bolton
3 against Watford
1 against Yeovil
0 against Blackpool or P'boro

Not enough, but to say we aren't scoring is a bit misleading.

0 against Peterborough
0 against Oman

2 of the goals we've scored were pens.

Problem is, when was the last time McAnuff started?

Oh yeah, against Watford where we blew them away first half and were a big threat going forward....

He didn't start against Blackpool, P'boro, Yeovil or Oman and in each of those game we struggled to create anything going forward.

If he's fit, for me, Jobi's the first name on the team sheet...

Our best performance this season seems to have come with McAnuff starting. I can't help but think you're writing him off rather prematurely. Just saying.

Even excluding last year we rarely have 50% of possession in a game which means defending as a wide man is a key part of the game. Jobi does an excellent job in that respect as well as offering a theat going forward. He certainly has an average game now and again (as do most players) but if you had two of him as your wide men you wouldn't be taking one of them off after half an hour as per Yeovil.
