Is there nothing positive to say about Reading FC?

by Terminal Boardom » 23 Dec 2013 11:10

Christmas sees Reading sitting in 6th place in the Championship. So many clubs relegated from the PL struggle the following season yet all that I have read on here for the last 6 months is nothing but negativity. Shirley there must be something positive out there so why all the doom and gloom? Hasn't anyone got anything positive to say???

No because although we are grinding results... the performances are shocking

TBF, you could use that statement to cover most of the football since the start of 2009. The odd performance here and there but generally...

If only people put as much effort into being positive and getting behind the team and club rather than lobbing bombs on a forum and hurling abuse at games. There is not even any humour on here any more.

No there isn't.

I dont like our owner.
I dont like our manager.
I dont like our players.
I dont like our fans.

Merry Christmas.

6th at xmas is better than we're used to.

New ownership not far away (could be great, the same, or worse) but I'm taking that as a positive for now.

Lots to be positive about.

The biggest negative is some of our idiotic fans who don't realise how good they've got it!

+1.

People ask me "why do you go then" - as if there is a queue of people willing to fill my seat - and I simply say 'I was here first' when referring to the vast majority of those listed above.

Did anyone else get a questionnaire emailed to them from the club, after the game on Saturday? Gr8 timing.

When have you been happy as a Reading supporter, then, Floyd?

Feel free to use both sides of the paper.

Just 4 times in the last 11 Christmases we've been in the top 6th. And twice further we've been 7th on xmas day. And on three further ocassions, of course, we were in the Premier League.

Stop re-writing history.

No, it was a genuine question.

I accept it's been, er, dull and uninspiring.

They should print that on t-shirts and sell it in the club shop.

Happy Christmas Lux. I love you. In a way. x

I've got plenty of positives to say and regularly do, ta.

I've got plenty of enjoyment out of my season ticket so far, even if results and performances haven't lived up to my asiprations. I was thinking of it just being a one off luxury, instead of a holiday. But I'm actually finding the value for money pretty good and will be seriously considering renewing next year.

Genuine question: If results and performances are - as you say - disappointing, what exactly constitutes the 'plenty of enjoyment' you've had so far :?:

Presumably you enjoy spending 4 and a half quid for a beer stood in the dreadful Jazz Cafe'. I'd rather have a beer in The Clutha than the Jazz Cafe'.

I didn't say disappointing. You used that word, not me.

I just have a sense of perspective and don't think we have a divine right to win every game comfortably like so many on here seem to after getting too carried away with our amazing performance in 05-07 and the second half of 11/12. I'm enjoying seeing the change in the way we're playing and I think it shows much promise for the future, even if it isn't a quick and smooth transition. I think we've looked good in parts of plenty of matches, albeit without putting in a complete performance.

There's loads to be positive about the future of RFC. There's plenty that can go wrong. But I'm not interested in borrowing trouble.

Nor do I m8. In fact, I enjoyed the aforementioned Watford game when we utterly stacked a two goal lead and got a total chasing second half more than any of our drab victories this season.

They've been sending them out after every game recently, I assume randomly. We always flag the overzealous stewarding in Y26 and how it kills the atmosphere. Clearly making no difference at all. Thanks for listening RFC.

Ian Royal found our play-off defeat to Swansea to be "a cracking day out", so I suspect just being out of the house is enough for him.

That wasn't so much directed at you.
