ZacNaloen He basically said they do everything too slowly and lack the vision to see the first time pass.

Haven't seen many games this season but from what I have seen they have no trouble with the first time forward pass, it's passing it forward where the problem lies.

:|

I'll amend that post then.

*First time forward pass.

Not having a dig.

I am a qualified coach at a low level and the type of football Reading are playing is as if it has been drilled into them on the training ground to give and go with emphasis on the triangles but with no real plan B. The defenders are uncomfortable with it, the ball ends up with Guthrie who puts a foot on it and slows the game down. Our wingers then have to drop deep as the forward momentum gets lost. Hence we struggle to get in behind teams.

Three. One blocked from Blackman, two from Le Fondre. First one should have done a lot better.

I made a comment on the NA to WBA thread that the players are not playing for NA. One player who is trying is Blackman. He is probably our best player. I cannot believe I am saying that but..

Blackman finally starts playing football...and immediately gets injured in the arse.

MmmMonsterMunch
RoyalBlue Change to suit the players?! When those players wouldn't stand a prayer if we managed to fluke our way to the PL?! As BMc proved in catostrophic style, it is far too late to then try and change players and style when you get to the PL, particularly when the owners are as tight as the proverbial duck's

Makes you wonder why we ever signed those players, let alone pay them the massive salaries that they get when they are incapable of controlling and passing a football!

Too bloody right. It's embarrassing. This is what happens when you put no emphasis whatsoever on being comfortable with ball to feet for over 4 years & have a few ageing/injured players on your books. I might have to start watching some academy games to see what they look like as watching the 1st team is bordering on suicidal.

My son was coached by B Rodgers when he was involved with running the youth setup. Rodgers always used to emphasise how important it was to be comfortable with the ball at your feet.

Great pity, seems he is one of only a very few players who doesn't need a massive kick up the arse!

Spot on! He's the only one today and against Forest who showed any fight and willingness to chase everything and run at the opposition. A typical Reading signing of old, and something we are clearly missing.

how is taylor performing?

if he is doing well we should think about starting him as an AM maybe we can finally get some creativity and vision in this side.
