Teams you really hate and like as a Reading fan

by Reading4eva » 08 Feb 2014 08:57

It got me thinking the other day. Seeing as we haven't played Swindon or Oxford for years and Aldershot have disappeared into obscurity again, who do we really hate. But on the spin which teams don't we mind?

Hate:

Wolves - if I never have to see us play the golden shower tossers again as they slide down League One the better. I think it stems from 1995 and when a couple of them decided to gloat about the playoff final by coming all the way down to Reading, even though they had been beaten a week before by a team who were really lucky to get promoted in the end. Then the 2003 playoff semi final when a young child was pushed down what could go been a dangerous embankment was the final straw. I hate them more than Swinedon and Poxford and refer to them as the Golden Shower. Come on Brentford and Leyton Orient!!!!

West Ham - I'm surprised more teams don't dislike them. Stick jellied eels up your arse! This really stemmed from Pardew and the bad taste left afterwards. They are also a cockey bunch of anuswipes!

Bristol Rovers - just don't like them. Although haven't played them for years.

Like:

AFC Wimbledon - really due to the Milton Keynes move, I feel sorry for Wimbledon fans and think what they've done is amazing really. The day they overtake the Franchise will be a good day for the whole of football. Understand they are building a new stadium soon, so that day may just be round the corner, where Plough Lane use to be.

Nottingham Forest - actually every time I went up there to watch Reading and when I lived up there for a few years, they are a very nice club with friendly fans and if we could get second spot somehow, I'd be hoping for them to come through the playoffs. Also a club with a lot of history but don't feel the need to bleat on about it every two minutes.

I hate West Ham because

- their fans think they have a God-given right to be in the Premier League
- they think they won the 1966 world cup single-handedly
- Tevez-gate
- their fans' manic reaction to Kebe-socks-gate (but at least it made me laugh!)
- Sam Allardyce
- their refusal to accept the Carroll red card

Hate Brighton - prob because I am down here now and know a lot of fans. They all reckon they are the biggest club in the south with the biggest fan base yawn. they all need to check the history books I think we have played them more than any other club.

West Ham - reasons above

Chelsea - don't know why, a lot of people in Reading used to support them when we were lower league and they started this mad wages explosion and are all that is wrong in the game. Also john Terry....

Hate:

Oxford - Small time neanderthalic supporters who spit at and push over the elderly when they lose to their local (but we don't care about you) rivals, and who see Reading fans walk in to the wrong pub and instead of confronting the adults, confront a 16 year-old and challenge them to a fight. Honestly the most pathetic fans I have ever encountered, and the longer they rot in the 4th division the better.

WoLOLves - Convinced they're a big club, but their fans go missing in the thousands when they struggle in the Premiership, and again in the Championship. Subway AROFLmy. I would love them to cock up promotion back to the Championship this season, love it!

Like:

AFC Wimbledon - Very hard done by Winkleman and his 'dream' move to Milton Keynes - no club, maybe other than Oxford, deserves that. I'm pleased that hasn't worked out for them so far, and hope they remain a third division club at best. To make it back to the Football League is a great achievement for AFCW, and hopefully they'll come in to some investment in the future to get a new ground and hopefully get back to the Championship ahead of their rival Winkleman!

Totally agreed on BHA and Chelsea, neutral on WHU. I'd add Arsenal. Awful club, run by Freemasons, always thrash us.

Hate:

Crystal Palace - The origins lie in a trip to Selhurst Park in the 80's and being showered with bricks whilst queuing to get out after the game. Feed somewhat by a a pathological dislike of Andy Johnson.

Chelsea - another one originating in the 80's when they had a serious Billy Big Bollox attitude despite being a bit of a joke.

Portsmouth - No explanation needed really, but how about buying success with money they didn't have, continuing to spend money they didn't have even after they'd been caught out and sanctioned, their general woe-is-me attitude after being caught out again and again, neanderthal fans, Harry Redknapp. Any more for any more?

Any club that currently employs Neil Warnock or is currently owned by Ken Bates.

Rochdale - The perenanial underdog

Sheffield Wednesday - great fans, were always a half decent, yet unfashionable club throughout the 80's and 90's

The OP said that Nottingham Forest had a history but don't bleat on about it

Well, the OP obviously doesn't know any Forest fans or been in the company of any.

All they do is bleat on about the great days of Brian Clough and European glory, and complain about how sh*t it is now.

Tbf, at least they've got something to bleat on about and Derby fans are even worse bleaters about the good old days.

Don't think that any other team p*ss me off quite as much as Reading do, tbh.

Funny how it changes over time. In the 70's I was in London for a few years and watched QPR as my second team (Marsh, Bowles etc.). In those days I do'nt remember any 'Fake Hoops' stuff or anything like that. Now, I can't stand them!

Also used to like West Ham due to 1966 - but also because they played the game right and had a great youth system. Totally hate them now because of Tevezgate, Fat Sam, the appalling Nolan and their Porno Owners with tame Bimbo. Oh, I forgot the Olympic Stadium which they should be banned from using as a ground.

Likes:- AFC Wimbledon AND Rochdale.

My dislike of teams is aimed more at the fans rather than the club themselves. I really, really detest T.V. fans. You know who I mean. People who pick a successful team off the telly and even though they live 300 miles and have no connection with the city swear their allegiance to that team. Most of them couldn't even point to the city in question on a map of England and have no intention of attending one of their matches (unless it's at The Mad Stad of course). On top of that they have the audacity to laugh at real supporters of struggling teams and think they're so superior because their team is winning most weeks. We have a couple of these dribbling windowlickers at work who pester the life out of me at break times. If they mention football I tell them "If I want an intelligent conversation about football I'll talk to the microwave thank you".

Any team that USED to be a top team but are now not such a top team as their fans just live of past glories. A special mention to Liverpool and Wet Sham fans.

I did forget Everton. I do have quite a soft spot for them as one of my best mates supported them growing up and I joined him at Wembley in 1995. They are also a club who do things the right way. I'd love to see them win the league somehow this season and if you removed the top 3 it could happen, but unfortunately Chelsea, Man City and now Arsenal a bit are making it a mini race that no one else can get in.

I wonder how much they've sold and spent. I reckon they always equal it out?

They also seem not to gloat about anything, but they are passionate

Hate

Chelsea..who else in this world sacks a second placed premiership manager?

Like...or rather look out for

Fleetwood...saw them, not that long ago playing in the NW Counties league in front of a couple of hundred...uncomfortable that they have also sacked a couple of successful managers along the way tho'.

add in to that, any league/non league team that includes ex-royals...Paul Brayson has scored sh1t loads since leaving us....Blakey lives on and Sammy Igoe still wins games for Gosport etc etc

i know a lot of those people here in the states. I only know one person who doesnt support a big team, and he supports fullham. everyone else i know supports chelsea, united, city, liverpool, or arsenal. they dont know the struggle of a relegation battle, watching your team lose week in week out against big teams who spend tens of millons on players (especially since our most expensive player was only 2.5m), getting heartbroken by poor ref decisions against bigger teams that cost you points, losing out to teams in transfer windows who can just throw about money at a whim. the worst thing that happens to fans of those clubs would be missing out on champions league football, or not winning the league. these fans are spoiled imo.
