New captain?

by yappy » 06 May 2014 20:03

So now Jobi has gone, who would you like to see as the next captain? Obviously there are going to be a few ins and outs (mainly outs) over the course of the summer, but out of the existing squad, who would you like to see take the armband?

Only one choice for me:

Looking forward to someone genuinely suggesting Aaron Kuhl

I personally think/hope it will be Gunter & have voted for him. Definitely would be my pick with Guthrie as vice.

Who knows though - could even be a brand new player that we sign in the summer?

It'll be Morrison won't it? Certain he normally gets the armband when Jobi goes off.

I think Guthrie had the armband for quite a few games this season?

If they're still here, I think Adkins will choose Guthrie with Morrison vice captain. I'm not sure any of them have genuine leadership qualities.

Amazed that Drenthe hasn't been shown as a separate option. Obvious captain material.

From the outside Pearce would seem to be the obvious choice but he was overlooked by Adkins before so I'm not sure he'll get the nod this time around.

I hope it's not Gunter though. He's had a decent season, and he's experienced for a player of his age, but he seems far too weak to be a long term skipper. It's all about how they are within the squad though so we're all obviously talking with little or no insight into their suitability.

Aaron Kuhl. Born leader and probably our best midfielder now Jobi has left. Will also help ward off interest from Man City.

I voted Pearce, but depending on ins and outs I'd say probability from what happened this season is something along the lines of: Morrison > Guthrie > Pearce > Karacan > Williams

I'd love Pearce with Karacan, but I think it will be Morrison with Guthrie.

And ofc Kuhl should get the arm band once he makes his debut.

Pearce - He's served his 'punishment' for not signing the contract when they wanted him to and he's a natural who has matured since the first time he was given it.

No to Morrison for me. Not experienced enough.
