Internationals Watch

To keep an eye on our players representing internationally obvs.

Jordan Obita picked for England U21s Toulan tournament. Confirmed.

*edit because I can't tell the difference between Toulouse and Toulan

He's in the u21 Squad and the Toulan tournament which is for u20's I think.

“It’s nice to have clubs wanting you because it says you’re doing really well,” he said.

“But I’m a Reading player, I’ve signed a new contract and I’m very happy here.”

Yeah, Toulon tournament is for U20s which is much less prestigious than the U21s because they just play in random tournaments every now and then rather than the regular qualifiers and tournaments the U21s play. Tbh, I dunno why Obita hasn't been in the u21 squad all this season. Southgate seems to prefer picking from big clubs' u21 sides over championship first team players which I don't think is great tbh.

Yeh if lower than Prem level they'll only pick regular starters.

I guess Jordan needed that season behind him.

If you look at the calibre of the other wide players in that squad it's a massive achievement for him to be picked

Pog in Capello's 30 man provisional squad. Hopefully he can do enough to go to the World Cup, and earn a move away.

Only non Russian based player in the whole 30

Federici not one of 4 keepers in the Austrailian Squad, former Royal Oliver Bozanic has made the cut

Luke Shaw, that's why.

Looks like Obita is far and away the best option at left back, but there's an abundance of wingers and attacking midfielders.

Aren't there only two wingers, inc Obita, in the tournament squad?

Good spot! I was talking about the U21 squad.

Looks like Obita will be getting a lot of playing time for the U20s then.

The comment8ors are creaming over Luke Garbutt, who's making his debut at LB.

Saw him play twice this season for Colchester United, he was on loan there for the 1st half of the season.
Good player and they rated him very highly, but recalled to Everton after Oviedo snapped his leg.

If Baines goes in the summer I wouldn't be too surprised to see Garbutt given a chance there next season.
