Awful day. Feels like a bit of a sliding doors moment. We were more ready to go up then.

12min: This is getting slightly over-the-top. After Adam Federici's goal kick is stupidly blocked by Borini, Zurab Khizanishvili even more stupidly pushes him to ground.

:?

21min: GOAL! Reading 0-1 SWANSEA
Khizanishvili is lucky to be on the pitch

:?

34min: Khizanishvili is really riding his luck here,

:?

40min: GOAL! Reading 0-3 SWANSEA
I thought the Royals were the counter-attacking team? This is clinical. A low cross is poorly cleared by Khizanishvili

:?

15.55: RED CARD (Jay Tabb, Reading)

15.57: Hearing news that Tabb has been sent-off for having one or two choice words with the referee at the break. Will update if I have heard that wrong or if the circumstances were different.

15.59: You can add Reading assistant manager Nigel Gibbs to the red card list as well for the same incident.

16.04: Tabb even took his place on the bench for the second-half but after a few minutes delay, he has to be forced off by his own club officials before we get going again.

57min: GOAL! READING 2-3 Swansea
Well I just can't believe this! From another McAnuff corner, skipper Matt Mills thunders a header into the top corner. GAME ON!

:D

60min: Off the post! Karacan's low effort beats De Vries but clatters off the upright before Swansea clear in a panic.

:o :o :o

80min: GOAL! Reading 2-4 SWANSEA
What is Griffin doing?

I remember watching Tabb forced back down the tunnel and wondering if he'd been sent off. If only that Karacan shot had gone in...

No it wasn't, it was utterly awful. Pubs packed out with goons in replica shirts and blue wigs. Then a predictably horrific performance in one of our biggest games ever.

In was in a pub in Aberystwyth, as I went to University there... there are quite a few Cardiff and Swansea fans around Aberystwyth. I thought I had better try and keep quiet (there were about 100 Swansea fans in there, I was the only Reading fan aside from my girlfriend giving moral support and buying me several hard drinks at half time) but when Mills scored I jumped, knocking the table over and spilling several pints  DIdn't give a fcuk.

Incidentally I had a gr8 time during the Cardiff semi being the only guy celebr8ing in the pub. Somehow I didn't get stabbed during either match but Aberystwythians seem to be an altogether better class of Welsh football fan and were quite tolerant.

And the rebound off the post fell right to Noel Hunt who somehow couldn't get a boot to it with a wide open goal staring at him. :? :(

It has been a rollercoaster ride since then, hasn't it?

Didn't the Swansea defender make a ridiculous block?

Not that I recall, but it is kind of a blur at this point. So I could be wrong. I thought it was off the post, Hunt couldn't get a boot to it, there was a massive scramble (where there could have been a block), and it ended up being cleared. Like I said, at this point I am not sure. From what I remember after it was finally cleared Hunt bending over and putting his head in his hands...

Prolly how it happened then. I remember was already going mental about our comeback and jumping up as a saw Karacan's beat the keeper thinking we had leveled it, and then was like  :? :( watching what happened after that point.

There were two blocks, one from Karacan's shot onto the post and one to deflect Hunt's rebound away.

Jeez, is that really only three years ago? A championship, the Prem, relegation,
a last day missing-out, financial melt-down. All in three years?
