This is probably a little more circumspect than the 100 goals and 25 clean sheets nonsense he was spouting this time last year. Perhaps he recognises he isn't much good at his job without money to spend 8)

Yep he was bankrolled at Scunny undoubtedly.

Poor cnut can't win whatever he says.

My 2p worth - he is finally coming to terms with the fact that us Reading fans like a large dose of realism rather than everything being sugar coated. TBF to the guy he did start to change tack last season in that respect.

I still like him. Can't think of anyone else out there I'd rather have either.

Last season all he did was just change objectives to make himself look good.
'We're going to win the league' went to 'we're going to stay in the race' went to 'we want to finish in the playoffs' went to what is basically 'we had a good season'.

No manager would complain over lack of funds as a reason for their failures because they'd get shafted by their fans.

Thats not true. There are certainly managers who complain about lack of funds. Billy Davies springs immediately to mind.

You expect Adkins to have spent all season talking about winning the league? That'd be ridiculous. He started with the goal he'd been set and then revised it based on reality.

He never said that. Why not use a real stick to beat him with?

He's neither here nor there, average manager who I do think was slightly overrated when we acquired his services.

I did admire the fact he knuckled down in the face of a pretty dire situation last year, changed tactics etc, didn't really moan about it and also enjoyed his kind of frank discussion with Adie at the end of the season.

Long term, he's not the one - but for now he'll do.
